Gaza 2023: The Next Episode

Screw Gaza. One side wants to destroy Israel and orchestrates October 7th. The other side uses that terrorist attack to destroy an entire "country".

The hell with them. Let them figure it out. Why did we go into Iran again?

At the 2004 Maine Democratic State Convention we were rolling through the platform and were on pace to have it done by the supper break, Then we came to the plank about Israel-Palestine. Lines of delegates starting queueing up at the microphones around the convention center. The debate lasted the rest of the afternoon. Then on Saturday we picked up and the debate continued for three more hours. Then three more in the afternoon. Then we came back on Sunday and the debate continued. Finally someone stood up and asked if we even had a quorum left. A headcount revealed that we had barely 30% of the delegates remaining. So the convention adjourned with the debate never settled and the we never even heard the rest of the platform. I remember sitting in my seat on Saturday thinking no one in Israel or Palestine gives a shit what a bunch of Democrats in Maine think of their situation.

At the GOP convention, the platform was passed in 15 minutes. The media had a field day. Played right into the "Democrats in Disarray" storyline.

I'm actually not surprised. It is a massively fucked up issue.
