Steve Dangle said something along the lines of "spending $10 million plus to hire Gregory Campbell as an assistant GM is absolutely worth it because then your players can do whatever the fuck they want and no get in trouble."
(Gregory Campbell is the Assistant GM in Florida and just happens to be the son of NHL VP Colin Campbell)

PHPA and the ECHL fail to come to an agreement for their next CBA, and after months of operating in good faith under the old contract, the PHPA has authorized a strike starting Friday (the day after a scheduled holiday break).

Want an idea of what a shitshow the ECHL can be? Yesterday the Allen Americans (why yes they are in Texas!) announced they had signed Ben Johnson to a contract. Who's Ben Johnson? Let me use his full name Ben "convicted rapist" Johnson. Yeah, he was convicted of raping a 16 year old girl in a bathroom during a Windsor Spitfires team party, sentenced to 3 years in prison and served 13 months.
You might think that he's become remorseful, especially now that's he's married with two daughters. No.
Yeah, in a totally unrelated note, today the Allen Americans announced that they had released Ben "convicted rapist" Johnson.
This all happened after the owner of the Allen Americans was arrested on felony gun charges.

A post from his wife popped up on FB a few months ago, with the story of how he’s just a man trying to provide for his family who keeps getting jobs taken away. I didn’t know who he was at the time and the way she framed it I assumed he was getting bounced from teams due to unfounded allegations, but then read up on how he was convicted.
He was in the ECHL already for a few stints before playing in Slovakia. I don’t know what they pay in Slovakia, but it’s either not a lot or you must miss living in the US to come back for the ECHL wage.

In Olympics news it sounds like the US roster will be largely the same as the 4 Nations roster. Meaning no Robertson, no Thompson, no Keller, no Debrincat, and no Caufield.
Or basically, leaving 5 out of the 10 leading American goal scorers of the last two years.

Montreal fans already insuffrable over Hutson. Perhaps the US should sit Hughes and Werenski and just let Hutson handle it all.

Hot take: Hughes was absolutely useless during the 4 Nations. He got bodied the whole time and was ineffective.

Guerin makes interesting decisions, any Wild fan could tell you. He very clearly believes in building chemistry through having a mix that includes a good number of heavy, grinding players that don’t rack up points.

At some point the folks at USA Hockey need to get out of the “I’m not looking for the best guys, I’m looking for the right guys” mentality. Even Brooks himself got away from it in 2002. Keep it simple: Bring your best players and score goals.

To me it’s the fact that they’re completely abandoning the identity that USA Hockey has spent over a decade building to great success at the U18 and U20 levels, an identity of being a fast, skilled, puck moving team that wants to attack, because they’re fucking scared. They’re scared of Canada’s offense so they’re kneecapping themselves in a vain attempt to stop them. They have the offensive talent to go toe-to-toe with Canada, back upped with arguably better defense and undoubtedly better goaltending, and they’re going to cower in the corner like a scared dog.
