Business, Economics, and Taxes 2: That's Why We Fight to Take the Means Back

I dunno they are already acknowledging a "slow period" and with another shutdown looming and nobody working they seem to recognize that they cant Criss Angel their way out of this one. Hence the checks...

The Ukraine War isnt ending any time soon and Trump is talking about bombing Mexico. Plus the Times is all in on invading Venezuela. (Right Bret Stephens) War stimulates economies and jingoism...when they are desperate they will Wag the Dog.

Also: Bubbasucker has said you can't change leaders during a war, so he can just cancel elections. You know, like we did in 1864, 1916, 1940, 1944, 1952, 1968, 1972...

ETA: Or, to match your gif: You don't change horses in midstream. ;)

This is an unfortunate headline.

A drop in the trade deficit sounds great on the surface, but with exports only increasing by 0.1% and U.S. manufacturing having yet to experience a surge in production, the loss of incoming goods means prices are only going to continue to rise.

I'd rather see Target finally have a come to Jesus moment and not fail, but whatever.
I would agree if this was a short term issue...but they have been evil for quite some time they just choose not to hide it any more.

Time for them to reap what they sowed.

Given the lack of exports and lack of making stuff in the US, that means we bought $20B less stuff. Good if you want to curb over consumption, bad if the reduction is just a combination of too high of costs plus low income....

A reduction in the trade deficit really only matters to the overall U.S. economy if it's primarily been cut by 1) Exporting more and 2) increasing U.S. based production

Obviously cutting costs by purchasing less can be the key to the success from one business to the next but that's a mirco effect.

Is Target really dramatically different from most Fortune 500 companies?

That said I agree if they don't figure it out fuck them on principle, but it's rarely something I ever see as the preferred outcome barring all other possible results.
