NHL 2024: SLC Puck

The Wings are going to retire Sergei Fedorov's number. He was great as a Wing, but he left. So I don't know how I feel about this one. I'm honestly surprised that the Wings are doing it. I guess you can look at it as a cynical cash grab for merch and ticket sales (but that I don't think that is what it is). I just think back to that time and remember feeling betrayed that he left. Of course things were good for the team afterwards, but if they didn't win more Cups after he left, I'm not sure the feelings are as warm.

Great USA first camp roster announced

Love seeing knies/faber/cooley/lacombe ❤️
-knies/faber/sanderson/mcdonaugh /kane only guys with Olympic experience
- Montreal fans flipping at Hutson not being on list. I get it- he’s not taking the spot of Hughes, werenski, Faber, Slavin, McAvoy, and maybe even Fox. Pionk, Skjei and mcdonaugh being listed makes them even Madder. Perhaps lane should have listened to the message that players who choose to ignore worlds aren’t as high on list (though I’m sure injuries can quickly get him in consideration)
-Dallas fans already crying that Robertson may not make team despite being invited, and really seem to have issue with boldy likely making team lol

Seems that you are correct that this is a money grab to sell more stuff.

He was a really good player, but seeing that the Wings continued to be great after he left- makes me think his actual contribution was good. Great even. But hardly legendary. And certainly no reason to retire his number.

It's all a big "meh" to me.

I also kind of find it appalling that so many pro teams around the world are constantly changing uniforms. For sure, all to sell more stuff to people. Yes, I have a Michigan jersey. Two actually. The first I bought as a student, and used it when I played rec hockey while at school. The second was when the club team sold old jerseys, which were almost identical to the teams at the time. I got it cheap. I will not buy a new jersey. The only place all of these jerseys will end up in is a landfill, as eventually, nobody will want what you give to Salvation Army.

Lots of people upset over players that just won gold at Worlds being invited to the camp, including Skjei and Daccord.

I’m not saying I agree with the rule, but it was stated so I guess I wasn’t surprised

I’m so tired of the Hutson crap already. He’s nowhere near as good as anyone else on that list defensively, and there are some freakishly good puck movers in that dcorp list.
