Incredibly Dull Boring 2022 Pairwise and Tournament Possibilites Thread

13 Lowell
14 Northeastern
15 Ohio State

If one of Bemidji State, UConn or Harvard win, Ohio State is eliminated.
If two win, Northeastern is also eliminated.
If the parlay hits, all three are eliminated.

UMass will be the 3 seed - it looks like Albany because of the glut of NCHC 2 seeds and St Cloud at 3.

Will be fascinating to see what the committee does if Lowell, Northeastern and Harvard are all 4 seeds.

Guessing that Lowell and Harvard will be in Worcester and Northeastern sent to Albany or Allentown. Harvard's fan base doesn't travel beyond I-495 on a regular basis.

Let's look at the NCAA tournament selections. Top 12 teams are already in.

1st band:
1 Michigan
2 Minnesota State
3 Western Michigan
Either 1st or 2nd bands:
4 Denver
5 Minnesota (in 1st band if they beat Michigan otherwise Denver is in as a 1)
2nd bands:
6 North Dakota
7 Quinnipiac
8 Minnesota-Duluth
3rd bands:
9 Notre Dame
10 St. Cloud State
11 Massachusetts
12 Michigan Tech

4th bands:
The next 3 teams in would be 13 Lowell, 14 Northeastern and 15 Ohio State. However, any upsets: Harvard over Quinnipiac, UConn over UMass or Bemidji over Minnesota State eliminate those 3 in reverse order.
The winner of AIC/ Air Force is in. AIC as the 15th overall if Bemidji wins, otherwise the 16th. Air Force should they win would be 16th overall. Bemidji would be 15th overall if both they and Air Force win otherwise 16th.

Hockey East could still get 4 teams in if UConn wins, and Harvard and Bemidji lose. UConn would probably draw extremely well in Worcester and would be a better choice than Harvard for there. But Lowell or Northeastern would also be good for Worcester.

I think Lowell has demonstrated local travel but we shall see. I've been annoying one of my uconn friends after he mouthed off about how it was so priviledged to be in the tournament and how they'd have to win tonight just to be there for the first time, yada yada. So I texted him a link to the Billy Joel song Allentown and that shut him up. :p

Lowell ends up in Worcester if it comes together the way it looks. If UConn gets in... i mean, we might as well run these contingencies, maybe? I figure UConn + no other upsets is allentown. UConn plus one more upset is Albany. and UConn plus 2 more upsets means I'm lighting things on fire because Lowell is knocked out. But right now I'm if the Albany/Worcester UConn/Lowell scenario comes to play I intend to go to both games.

Much will be determined by the BTHC championship. If Michigan wins there will only be two NCHC 2 seeds, which gives the committee flexibility. If Minnesota wins Quinnipiac has to play SCSU no matter what. Given flexibility the NCAA would love to put Quinnipiac vs UMass in Worcester.

Western Michigan/Minnesota vs Lowell seems a good bet for Albany.

At 7:15 Central....Parlay looking good. Bemidji up 1-0. UConn up 1-0. Harvard scored first, but it's 1-1.

It would also be interesting if both Bemidji and AIC win. Michigan would get "rewarded" as the #1 overall seed with a matchup against Bemidji State. Mankato would likely get AIC.

Connecticut and Massachusetts are headed to OT.

Harvard and Quinnipiac tied at 2 with about 6 minutes to play in the 3rd.

Ohio State is crossing those fingers tight!

If the UM-UMN and UMD-WMU scores hold, and Quinnipiac wins, we get:

1. Michigan
2. Minnesota State
3. Western Michigan
4. Denver
----------------------
5. Minnesota
6. Quinnpiac
7. Minnesota Duluth
8. North Dakota
----------------------
9. Notre Dame
10. St. Cloud State
11. Massachusetts
12. Michigan Tech
----------------------
13. Massachusetts Lowell
14. Northeastern
15. Ohio State
16. AIC

If Harvard wins, we get:

1. Michigan
2. Minnesota State
3. Western Michigan
4. Denver
----------------------
5. Minnesota Duluth
6. Minnesota
7. North Dakota
8. Quinnipiac
----------------------
9. Massachusetts
10. Notre Dame
11. St. Cloud State
12. Michigan Tech
----------------------
13. Massachusetts Lowell
14. Northeastern
15. Harvard
16. AIC

What is going on in Mankato? They are still reviewing what would have been the game winner in OT, and it clearly went in under the post so it shouldn't count.

Bemidji is still alive.
