Nobody is innocent in this whole mess and everyone is a bad actor. Israel and Palestine for obvious reasons. The US and the Soviets/Russians for involving themselves. Britain and France for kickstarting this whole BS. The other Arab/Islamic states for using the Palestinians for their own purposes (try bringing that up with the anti-Israeli folks). The Christian right for their pro-Israel, anti-Semitic stance so they can have their Rapture fantasies.

I feel like I’ve shared this one before, but one of the most stridently pro-US people I ever met was a co-worker on the F-35 program. He was a naturalized citizen of Palestinian birth. He and his family bounced around as refugees for 19 years before finally finding a pathway to US citizenship. 20-odd years later, I can still see the fire in his eyes as he listed off all the countries who hosted them for a while and then kicked them out: Syria, Iran, Egypt, and several others. And then, “This is the ONLY country who gave us a chance. The ONlY one.”


*That* is how you win hearts and minds.
 
I just want to say I am so very thankful to the community on this board. It really is a top tier group of individuals here

I like to think I follow a bunch of fairly smart individuals on bsky and twitter. But current events are just going to drive me fucking mad on those platforms.

The bot gaming on X is totally out of control now that anyone can pay to get a blue check and thus boost their posts & replies. It's so obvious, you can just check the replies to any politician's account and have a laugh at how bad it is. Block 20 blue check accounts and 40 more are created to replace them, just changing one number in the handle or whatever.

Kevin kruse and some others appear to be leaving today. I’m with them- used it to get news and it’s gone.
only thing it’s good for us to see what talking points drew farts out here about a day before he actually shits them out

Yeah two days ago seemed to be D-Day for a lot of the media types and liberal minded folks. I saw a lot of new introductions and follow requests on Threads...most I have seen since the first few weeks. I think Elon tweeting out for people to follow a well known Antisemitic web site as a news source along with his terrible slavery takes were the final straw for a lot of them.
