Loving seeing the "Bring the troops home!" crowd getting ready to tell the boys "Lace'em up!" with this...

Also it's scary how many American's can't grasp the severity here. These aren't 3rd world participants that have been in turmoil for most of modern history. These are major players in every sense.

One of the biggest wheat producers in the world.

Well if the Right was in charge they would be applauding as he walked in so how about you just cool it.

We can't go in, not unless Putin gets real dumb and attacks a Western Ally. Americans won't support a war unless they think they are at risk so Ukraine isn't going to move the needle.

Didn’t Donald walk back some of the sanctions in his term? Or at least refused to impose the ones he should have

Yes and lest we forget all the Senators that spent 4th of July 2018 in Moscow...if that isn't a statement for something.

I am sure Tucker will call them Nazis and not get the irony...

Auschwitz Memorial is a good follow they post pictures and info in remembrance of people in the camps on their birthday so they are never forgotten.

What sucks is the SO's family and I were discussing heading to Poland and a few other places in Eastern Europe to see where parts of our families came from. Iksnay to that.

So the new sanctions include USD, GBP, Yen, and Euros. Not sure about that last one though.
Freezing assets (Might as well start seizing/forfeiting them)
Four additional banks

SWIFT off the table until Germany and I believe at least Italy (possibly also Cyprus and a few others) get on board. Probably waiting for additional promises of aid from the rest of the world to supplant nat gas and bank loans.

Great quote put onto twitter by a Presidential Historian. This was likely fine then when Yeltsin was in charge. Then they put the psychopath in charge. We can't say much about that though cause we elected Donald Trump.

Yeltsin wasn't too great either - his inability to get a handle on Russia's economic chaos and put the clamp on the bratva (mob) led directly to "law and order" Putin and the oligarchs.

What it might do in the short-to-mid term is inflate the price of oil & gas to $150/b again, which is really the only thing that can keep Russia's economy going. He's been doing what Michigan did for too many decades and rely on one or two major industries to prop up everything else.

See? Turns out my foreign policy takes are indeed closer to reality than some Frog pol with no medical degree trying to claim Putin is showing signs of dementia. ;-)
