Yeltsin wasn't too great either - his inability to get a handle on Russia's economic chaos and put the clamp on the bratva (mob) led directly to "law and order" Putin and the oligarchs.

Sure. There's always a trigger. Our inability to comprehend how insignificant an email server was led to Trump. And now look at us. We're ready to throw McCarthy and McConnell back into power.

What it might do in the short-to-mid term is inflate the price of oil & gas to $150/b again, which is really the only thing that can keep Russia's economy going. He's been doing what Michigan did for too many decades and rely on one or two major industries to prop up everything else.

See? Turns out my foreign policy takes are indeed closer to reality than some Frog pol with no medical degree trying to claim Putin is showing signs of dementia. ;-)

Not that I disagree, but doing so would absolutely guarantee a landslide republican victory this fall.

Yep, there's no way Biden can work with our oil producers to get North American production back online in time for the midterms. And if he sends in our troops, that'll just be another line of attack Republicans can use this summer.

It will be interesting to see how that works when $46 billion/day in Russian transactions happen in USD, GBP, or JPY and tomorrow they... won't.

For all we know McCarthy and McConnell have been in on this war all along.

Literally will not happen unless russia sets foot in Poland or shoots down several aircraft. It just will not happen because it almost necessarily means nuclear war.

That's the scary part here. Pooty can very well be calling our Nuclear Bluff with all this. The only counter to that is to actually pull the trigger...

CNBC was discussing that this morning. It was also pointed out how oil producers prioritized profits over production when Covid reopening started.

Someone suggested Biden could negotiate with OPEC to get extra product to market like the last guy did.

Zelensky says saboteurs have entered Kyiv and he and his family are top target to kill.

cnn saying strike on Kyiv could be within an hour

males Between 18-60 are banned from leaving Ukraine

Ah fuck. Hope this is an error, but the radiation meters at Chernobyl are pegged. literally a "Not great. Not terrible." moment again.

Do Biden and allies increase sanctions one more time if Russia officially topples Ukraine’s government and installs a puppet regime? Like banning Russia from SWIFT? Crazy to watch this. Feels different being Ukraine and an attack on its capital.
