Re: Your school's All-Time Team

If you are talking all time, you've got to put Roger "Frenchie" Guilmette, 1964-67, on the Norwich team. Argueably the best forward ever to lace up the skates at Taylor Arena.

Re: Your school's All-Time Team

ELMIRA'S ALL-TIMERS:

FIRST TEAM: Forwards--Jeff Cristina'80, Kurt Kalweit'84, Joe Spinelli'92
Defense--Jules Jardine'91, Dan Williams'89
Goalie---- Tony Mongillo'88

SECOND TEAM: Forwards--Bernie Cassell'92, Bob Holmes'92, Mike Haviland'90
Defense--- Hap Grabeldinger'83, Mike Clarke'03
Goalie-----Glen Lombardi'80

You could make an argument for several others, but I think these would be my picks.

I still have Dan Williams to thank for my only time in 37 years I got hit with a puck when he cleared one over the low glass up in Geneseo.

If you played at EC, you probably remember me and my brother Larry, who always sat behind the bench and went to all the road games. We used to come down to the locker room after the games, too. If you don't mind, e-mail me at ecfan30yr@yahoo.com and let me know who you are. I'm sure I'd remember you.

Looks like the team that crushed the dreams of one of Plattsburgh's best teams in 2009 NCAA Quarters, the Cards had lost 1 game all year!!! At least they went on to win it all in Lake Placid against some other teams that pulled major upsets. Not sure if the staff or the fans have ever put that loss behind them.

Re: Your school's All-Time Team

They were so good. Ugh :( Hince just wasn't himself that night, and Neumann executed flawlessly.

I pretty much agree with this but I would put Carl Antifonario in as at least an honorable mention. He was an extremely talented goalie that just didn't have the defense in front of him to put up the numbers that Ryan Scott, Tyson Gajda and even Paul Beckwith did. I would also add Joe Garofalo and Brian DeFeo to that list, those guys were great players and were a couple of the big stars when I first started following Laker hockey.

I thought about Carl just based on the fact he will forever go down in Laker legend lore for shutting out Plattsburgh and helping spark the bagel tradition.

Re: Your school's All-Time Team

That Plattsburgh team was an absolute juggernaut.

IMO, that was probably the 2nd or 3rd best Cardinal team ever. The 34-6 team ('87 NCAA Champs - stripped) was as good offensively as any DII or DIII team I've ever seen. the 1980-81 team was dominant (27-4-2) and whipped several DI teams, including a powerful Clarkson team in Clarkson but lost a heartbreaker to Lowell in National Final.
The 1991-92 Cardinals were something silly like 32-2 without any superstars. Just great team players. But that '08-09 team had it all too, except Hince when they needed him.

It would be interesting to start another thread of your school's best team of all time. And maybe the best team of all time. Here's some quick guesses: Middlebury 95 thru 99, Oswego '81, '87, '07 and '08, Norwich '00, '11, SNC last 5 years, RIT had some good ones including '85 National Champs. I also remember seeing an amazing Wi-Stevens Point team in the early '90's. And then there was the '94 Fredonia team with too many stars to name!

Re: Your school's All-Time Team

There are several great players that I had to leave out because I could only pick 2 teams.

It is tough because I really can only pick players that I have seen played and most of those players are from 76-80. Also most of those kids coming in at that time were 18 or 19 not like today when you have 21 year old freshman. It really is different today. Not better or worse- just different. Of the players I saw in that era- I would add Jay Green- smart player and great with the puck. Mike Brigante- one of the most entertaining players to play at EC. Small but very fast, could not catch him or knock him off his skates- Jay Boudreau- maybe the smoothest skater I every saw. As for d-men, John McLaren was outstanding when he was on the ice; he controlled the game.

Re: Your school's All-Time Team

I like your list but would have to have Ludwar, Kennedy (statue in lobby), Grip, and a few others. The problem is that the game has changed so much over the years I just don't know how good those who played in yesteryear would fair today.

Norwich

First Team

F-Keith Aucoin
F-Cam McGregor
F-Kurtis McLean
D-Frank Simonetti
D-Jason Lumsden
G-Ryan Klingensmith

Second Team
F- Marc Bellemare
F- Kurt Healey
F- Geof Liska
D- Toza Crnilovic
D- Lou Dimasi
G- Mike Bourdreau

Man - this is tough I had to leave out some really, really good players including the "Moscow Magician", Randy Hevey, Mike Serba, and the list goes on and on ... I'm not even sold on my list, but that's kind of top of mind awareness - certainly Charlie and Jerry will mention some names that I have even forgot in the fog of old age.
