Your 2014 EPO Free Cycling Thread

Re: Your 2014 EPO Free Cycling Thread

Kreuziger banned for blood passport irregularities from 3 years ago. Its kinda confusing, but he is out for Le Tour, which is turrible.

Kreuziger out

This is kind of stupid. Shouldn't UCI have looked at this 3 years ago and suspended him then? It just kind of shows what a joke they are when it comes to enforcement.

Re: Your 2014 EPO Free Cycling Thread

Mini League for Fantasy Tour

League Name: USCHO
League Code: 29125715

Don't pick Kreuzinger he's on the list. Still working on my team once I picked the guys I wanted, Contador, Nibali, Sagan and Vander Broeck doesn't leave me much for the rest of the team

Re: Your 2014 EPO Free Cycling Thread

My team, AC's Steak Tips.

Rui Costa LAM 12
Alberto Contador TST 22
Pierre Rolland EUC 14
Christophe Le Mevel COF 6
Marcel Kittel GIA 16
Bram Tankink BEL 4
Albert Timmer GIA 4
Matteo Bono LAM 4
Peter Sagan CAN 18

Re: Your 2014 EPO Free Cycling Thread

Not in love with my team, I don't really want Konig, but... I wish there was a puncher there in all arounders, so I could get someone for stage 2.
Alberto Contador TST
Leopold Konig APP
Jurgen Van Den Broeck LTB
Thibaut Pinot FDJ
Marcel Kittel GIA
Sylvain Chavanel IAM
Mark Renshaw OPQ
Anthony Delaplace BTE
Andre Greipel LTB

I still might change Delaplace for Petit, but Petit claims he isn't a sprinter anymore so not sure its even worth it as I know Delaplace will get into a break or two.

My current team is:

Contador
Van Garderen
Sagan
Costa
Kwiatkowski
Ten Dam
Bardet
Terpstra
Pineau

Still might make a change or two.

Selective enforcement, to be exact. This was heavily rumored last fall (explains the seven month window) and everyone figured it was menchov which thus explained his retirement early last season. Turns out those who said the "very well known" rider who was on the ropes was not menchov...were correct.

Your point stands regardless, though. Punching bags like di luca, rasmussen, santambrogio can get processed in expedited fashion, yet it takes an epoch to get things done in other instances. Ah well, whatever. Our sport is in far better shape with this than most others in the world, despite the fact fans of those sports are incapable of admitting it. Not sure if that's a commentary on the progress cycling has made, or that the fact the UCI has stumbled its way to relative competence highlights how bad things are elsewhere.

Re: Your 2014 EPO Free Cycling Thread

One sprinter or two...one sprinter or two...this will bother me all week. And I'm finding Pappy Horner quite tempting.

Some real interesting possibilities with this set of riders and point values. This sprint field is about as loaded as we've seen for any race in quite some time, at least best I can recall.

Re: Your 2014 EPO Free Cycling Thread

Actually, not really. He failed the tests in Feb and had been awaiting "B" sample confirmation. He wasn't scheduled to ride the Tour, at least that is my understanding of the situation.

And even if he was, about the only thing OGE is good for is team time trialing and there isn't one of those this year. His absence is pretty inconsequential.

Report I read made it sound like he was going to be riding the Tour if not for this news coming to light. If that was old news then my apologies

Re: Your 2014 EPO Free Cycling Thread

No apologies necessary, I think the news only broke this AM. This is the report I read: Impey Positive. Regardless I agree with XYZ that it really isn't a major deal for them. Are they just stage hunting or are the seriously trying to support Yates? Anyone know?

* Are they just stage hunting or are the seriously trying to support Yates? Anyone know?

There have been a few statements/tweets that seem to imply that, but I'm not taking them too seriously. One, Yates isn't going anywhere in this race (despite fact Impey grew magic mountain wings for a bit last year). And two, I can't fathom that OGE is dumb enough to expend a bunch of energy in supposed GC guy that would be fetching bottles for most teams.

Re: Your 2014 EPO Free Cycling Thread

Well the other Yates has been respectable this year and I think this Yates is supposed to be the better climber. Granted I can't seem him actually doing anything but OGE doesn't have much else going on. Goss is shot and outside of a few hilly stages that Gerrans might contest (like stage 2), I don't see much for them.

Still have Matthews for the sprints but he's a level down from the big boys. Further reading says they're going to target intermediate mountain stages with Yates, which does probably make the most sense. Could always find a way to steal one but I still don't expect them to be much of a factor overall.

Re: Your 2014 EPO Free Cycling Thread

It seems "Bling" (Hate that nickname) might not ride (Meier has been flown in and a decision will be made tomorrow). (EDIT: He crashed has has tons of stiches) However, I'd forgotten entirely about him. He might have a shot if he does ride. Other things...

1) If you haven't checked out the finishing climb on stage two, do it. Jenkins Road climb, its only 600m but has spots up to 33%.
2) Nibali's Tricolore is horrible.
3) Saxo-Tinkoff has, like others in the past, given up their yellow jerseys for the tour. It seems like Oleg has been possessed by the Vini Fantini/Yellow Fluo team. BRIGHT Neon-Yellow-Greenish. Hope Conti has the yellow so my retinas don't melt.

Tinkov is just giddy over the fact Contador decided to be more PRO this season. Man that tweet still cracks me up...

Re: Your 2014 EPO Free Cycling Thread

That's Neri Sottoli/Yellow Fluo. Vini Fantini bailed after the DiLuca/ Santambrogio thing( a bit hypocritical if you ask me, as it was the Vini-Fantini CEO who pushed the team management to add Di Luca in the first place) and are now sponsoring the former Nippon team. And I love their color. Although this year's addition of a peach/orange and blue to the kit is a bit much.

Had to make a couple changes to my team as riders aren't gonna be there. So out are Bono and Le Mevel, and in are Ten Dam and Cedric Pineau.
