Your 2014 EPO Free Cycling Thread

Re: Your 2014 EPO Free Cycling Thread

There back to Italy today, Bein is once again not showing the Giro for Sat and Sunday so will see what shows up.

I just went through my DVR listings to make sure to record the upcoming stages, and even though they didn't show up on the DVR menu for the bein channel, on their website they do have the Sat. and Sunday stages listed on their broadcast schedule. I was a bit worried, as the schedule for bein on my DVR showed nothing after Friday's stage, but apparently they will be shown.

Worst comes to worst, just check the bein website tv schedule and set aside that block of time for your DVR to record.

I basically set it to tape 8-12:30 every morning since they usually run it 8:30 to 11:30 the only thing I'm worried about is if they have extended coverage for any of the big mountain stages.

Pretty exciting stage today at the Giro, I figured that it was built for Purito but Ullisi outsprinted him. The announcer for Bein gets way to excited, he called it for Gianluca Brambilla with about 4K to go. Let see uphill finish 4K to go 20 second lead, yep he's got it in the bag. Just like yesterday when he was surprised that Viviani had caught up at the finish after the crash, I realize you have to sit there and talk for 4+ hours but you should at least pay attention at the finish. The team story option on Velogames is pretty cool as it details the points your team scored during the stage. Even with Ullici getting me the win I'm sitting in 4th place.

Glad to see the Break take it at the Tour of California today especially after Cav said that this stage was guaranteed to be a bunch sprint.

The early break, and once again, it's populated by the at-large invitee Continental teams: Androni, Columbia, Bardiani and Neri Sottoli. Just out getting some screen time for their sponsors.

And major crash just before the start of the finishing climb to Montecassino that really made an impact on the stage finish.

Re: Your 2014 EPO Free Cycling Thread

Yeah. Hope it doesn't really affect the outcome. I know Purito is out and Scarponi is likely done. Roche is eliminated from GC competition, not that I counted him as a GC threat, same with Arrodondo. Quintana hasn't had that "pop" that he has in the past, but his is under raced this year. Uran looks good and Dr. Pozzovivo is still hanging around. I'm REAL upset now that I couldn't get Aru!

Awesome 8th stage of the Giro today.

Re: Your 2014 EPO Free Cycling Thread

Good Giro stage although not much action among the favorites. Ulissi is the only one on my fantasy team doing anything though old man Basso hung with the bunch today. Love the contrast between the Giro and the TOC today the Giro is going up a mountain on a road like 15 feet wide while in California their riding on a 4 lane freeway up the mountain.

Re: Your 2014 EPO Free Cycling Thread

Up early and just getting caught up on yesterday. Farrar crashes and blows up the whole stage. Again. Can media please stop paying any attention to the guy? He's a complete nobody. Meanwhile, Viviani hung up in the wreck which torches my velogames team, but a well designed sprint finish in my mind. Nice and winding without having anything that was really over the top. And FDJ scores more world tour points. Score.

Re: Your 2014 EPO Free Cycling Thread

Not to do with the race, but the other day the helicopter zoomed in on a couple topless ladies laying out on the beach, and carlton Kirby says something like, "hello ladies. Apparently temperatures are much colder than we had thought."

Re: Your 2014 EPO Free Cycling Thread

Excellent stage yesterday as both Pozzovivo and Quintana made moves and even Cadel managed to pip a couple of seconds at the line. Didn't like Bein's truncated coverage due to important soccer, they just cut from Roche in the lead on the top of the second to last climb to the start of the final climb, with zero explanation of what had happened in the preceding 30K other than Roche getting caught by the rest of the break I'm guessing nothing happened but. Same deal today with only 4:00 pm coverage nothing in the morning.

Did you see where some poor guy got run into from behind by one of the motorcycle film guys and ended up being carted off by an ambulance?

Re: Your 2014 EPO Free Cycling Thread

Yeah, I saw that on yesterday's stage. Guy is in an induced coma. Whatever stream I was watching showed it live...think it was the Dutch stream.

Better attacking stage today. Aru is a beast! The new Simoni!

Re: Your 2014 EPO Free Cycling Thread

Quintana goes on the attack and takes the pink. Shake up in the standing we will see what happens the rest of the week.

Re: Your 2014 EPO Free Cycling Thread

I thought that Quintana just capitalized on Uran Uran being Uran. Just like when he turned and let Vino jump to the Olympic gold, here he let's Quintana get a minute gap going down the hill. I don't care if he thought the decent was neutral you see your primary threat start wandering down the road, you chase.

Re: Your 2014 EPO Free Cycling Thread

Congrats to Quintana on his win. The first grand tour to never have a European in the leaders jersey. Hopefully Sky will put Wiggo on the tour team to stir the pot.

I wouldn't bet against it. He seemed in good form in California.
