Your 2012 Cycling Thread

Taylor had to work very hard to keep the jersey today. Since Cav didn't even crack the top 5 after winning with the time bonus looks like he will have the jersey till the TTT.

The peloton must have let up. No way does he catch back on without cooperation.

I don't think much if any he didn't lose a whole lot of time, I don't think he ever fell out of the caravan and he had about 6K to go. I doubt all the teams gearing up for the sprint were going to wait for him.

Big pile up today with Roberto Ferrari going off his line and wiping out Cav at the finish.

Re: Your 2012 Cycling Thread

The best part of that crash, was the Farnese-Vini guy (might have been Guardini) bunny hopping the fallen Cav.

Rasmussen for pink on Wednesday.

Re: Your 2012 Cycling Thread

Actually, his leadout man Favilli.

I thought Phinney was ok? He did get into the ambulance, but as Universal Sport showed, and Cyclingnews reported, he started feeling better while in there, and actually got out and up onto the podium towards the end of the ceremonies. And ther news today says he only needed a couple stitches, has no broken bones, and they're talking as if he's going to continue.

Re: Your 2012 Cycling Thread

I think Phinney is fine, well as fine as one can be when he crashes at 75 KpH. My prediction is that Garmin beats BMC by more than 13 sec and that put Rasmussen into pink following the TTT.

And good point about Favilli, I just saw the Farnese Vini guys scattering and the hope over Cav, didn't see the numbers well enough.

Re: Your 2012 Cycling Thread

One of these days, Taylor Phinney's gonna end up like his old man here. Doesn't seem to be the best bike handler in the bunch.

Re: Your 2012 Cycling Thread

While I like Schlanger and Gogo well enough, I could listen to Carlton Kirby and Daniel Lloyd call this race all day long. There's just something about the Brits calling a cycling race.

Re: Your 2012 Cycling Thread

I missed today's stage live, and am watching it on Eurosport now, but it sounds like its Harmon and Kelly calling the race. I know Lloyd and Kirby did Turkey, are they also doing the Giro?

Re: Your 2012 Cycling Thread

Before Universal's main coverage with Schlanger and Gogo starts, and sometimes after they sign off, you get Kirby and Lloyd providing commentary for their "Exclusive Web coverage". Wish they'd do the entire program.

And there's a Farmese-Vini jersey in my future at some point.Gotta rock that Italian style.

Re: Your 2012 Cycling Thread

Found this video of the stage finish tomorrow, it looks amazing! Could be better then the finish in the fortress in Briancon!

Re: Your 2012 Cycling Thread

6 out of my remaining 7 riders finished in the top 20 of today's stage, and those same 6 are also in the top 20 overall. Finally picked a good team.

Re: Your 2012 Cycling Thread

Yep. I'm sure glad I picked this guy.

Sadly I then got smart and dumped him. :)

Where's Brianvf? Must be doing the Tour of California fantasy game. Hope to see you in France!

I am doing pretty well in the overall so hopefully my team will pick up some ground though I should have taken Rodriqez over frank Schleck.

Great attempt by the anti-Levi Chris Horner to shake up the TOC yesterday with a big long attack. Can't believe that Vaughters let him go in a break with 3 teammates. of course it was naught in the end as despite hearing what a great climber Dave Z is he faded in the final Km and Geesink takes the win.

If so, I hope he picked Peter Sagan. :D

Stupid me, I picked Rui Acosta, who it turns out wasn't even on the Moviestar Giro squad. But I wasn't the only one.

Re: Your 2012 Cycling Thread

Zabriskie's a pretty good climber, especially as far as guys noted more for time trialing go, but that last climb was a monster. Testament to him that he finished it as well as he did.

Re: Your 2012 Cycling Thread

I also picked Costa but I have luckily moved out of the cellar since Rufus is the only other one that has Ryder I might make the USCHO podium.

I need Degendt to do a good time trial and get on the podium, so hopefully I can have Ryder, DeGendt and Rodriguez on the podium. With the ending bonuses that Velogames does, it's possible I could end up with a top ten team.

Looks like you got your wish.
