You Guys Again? UNH Wildcats @ UMD Bulldogs

Re: You Guys Again? UNH Wildcats @ UMD Bulldogs

See, you DO learn something new everyday. I knew what freak was referring to regarding the tapes, the hotels, etc . . . but I didn't know the red text was an indicator of extreme sarcasm on these here boards.

I thought he was trying to be as psychologically damaging as possible.

I'm with you. I've been on list serves since the mid-90's and I never heard of the red text thing. See - you can learn something new every day

I always looked at red text as angry text.. where ALL CAPS is yelling...

Well, the red text thing came about last year after sarcastic remarks were made, but in italics. Someone (I think it was the BC boys) promoted the idea that red text would make the sarcasm clear, avoiding misinterpretation of comments. So, it was adopted by those with a penchant for tongue in cheek commentary.

The red text originated at the Eagle Insider message boards on the Scout.com network. Often comments were taken seriously that were meant to be sarcastic, so the red text became a way to overtly show intent.

As I recall, vell and I (a BC football fan) suggested it be used here after some intentionally sarcastic remarks were taken seriously.

One can also use the  smilie, although I guess that makes it less clear where the sarcastic text begins.

where ALL CAPS is yelling...

It's funny how the internet has permeated regular life.

During my time in the Marine Corps (1997-2001), we had to fill out logbooks in all printed caps. To this day I still write in mostly caps, especially when filling out any official form(s).

I now work at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where filling out logbooks are again a part of my job.

I had a foreman question my use of all caps when filling out a safety log, as he interpreted it as the internet expression of yelling.

:p

Re: You Guys Again? UNH Wildcats @ UMD Bulldogs

I print in all caps a lot when I'm filling stuff out.. mostly cause my handwriting could rival any doctors.. now if the paycheck could also!

I would have thought Brooky would have worn that  one out by now   :D

How things change. During my time in the Marine Corps (20 years before yours) we didn't keep track of stuff...if it moved, we shot it. If it didn't move, we painted it. :D

Anybody getting the B2 feed to work?

The event page says it starts at 7CT, and I've got no video.

Re: You Guys Again? UNH Wildcats @ UMD Bulldogs

It's working for me. UNH just scored to tie it up 1-1. :D

Re: You Guys Again? UNH Wildcats @ UMD Bulldogs

Since I missed it, the announcers are saying that UNH was "lucky" to get their goal?
