Actually they were ranked #1 for only a small portion of the season, so even "throughout much" would be misleading.

I You'll have a chance to crow about your team(s) if they out-perform Yale in the NCAAs. Also, your statement that nobody cares about Yale is probably the most ludicrous thing that has been posted here. If nobody cares, why is everybody putting so much energy into downplaying Yale's accomplishments and attacking (oh sorry, correcting) their fans

Correct, as a fan of a program with limited success I understand getting excited when your team is performing well. I would also point out that you didn't see any

"Vermont skating circles around ....."
"Vermont the best team in the country ...."

or any other stupid threads. Nor, have there been threads like that posted by other teams fans, and for a reason. Vermont fans were happy to talk about it on our season thread and in game threads and just enjoy it.

I don't think anyone, or at least the majority have an issue with Yale have success, or thier fans being excited about it... the issue is how the fans have acted. That has lead to the situation they are in now, and they are getting the ribbing they deserve for those actions. I dare say that in the future should Yale recieve a #1 ranking we won't see similar threads started again.

Yale fans just need to take their medicine, learn from it, and not make the same mistakes in the future.

I thought it was great last year when Yale beat North Dakota and not because I’m a Yale fan, but because, as a North Dakota fan I was embarrassed throughout the year by a pro-Sioux blog which did nothing but ridicule Yale and it’s schedule. In the end, after all the excuses, that blow-hard blogger had his/her nose rubbed in it pretty good (and it was well deserved). North Dakota won the third period last year, but it was Yale that won the game, and it was also Yale that made North Dakota play so poorly the first two periods.

However, I also agree with the majority here, that Yale fans are now getting what is due for their comments this year and the way they’ve handled the teams limited success thus far. About four or five years ago, while Miami’s program was on the up-swing, some fan suggested on these boards, the program was on the verge of becoming a dynasty. Well, needless to say, that caught the attention of the fans of the legacy programs and created quite a hullabaloo. And while Miami is now one of the premier teams in college hockey, we certainly haven’t seen anything that smacks of the term dynasty.

It would be nice to see the Sioux win another national title this year, as my other favorite team (Army), doesn’t have much of a chance. However, if Army or the Sioux can’t win it, I would certainly not mind seeing Yale (even Union) win it…It would be good for the game.

And just a heads up on this one, but...
Most fans could care less how many weeks their team was #1 in a season. It matters nothing in the grand scheme of things.
Any BC, UMD, Miami, or BU fan would tell you the same. Yale fans on the other hand...
Trust me, I'm not losing any sleep because Yale has been #1 in the USCHO poll for 6 weeks while UND has zero.

Well, yes, it was Goon. I still read him; just thought he was a bit over the top when it came to Yale (and he even continues giving it to them this year). I get a chance to see quite a bit of East coast hockey, and it's **** good. Five years ago I didn't think Miami could have survived in the WCHA, but I sure do today (and so had better everyone else). We may be saying the same thing about Yale in another couple of years (or even after this year). Would like to see Yale expand their schedule, but do understand the constraints they operate under.

Well, Yale fans were full of themselves, starting such threads about how Yale is legit, how they were a team that the WCHA and HE had to deal with, most likely during tourney time.

The posters of "skating circles" and "best team in the country" are frauds and bring down the true fans.
Being No.1 is fun but unfortunately your fan base took the ranking to mean that the 2011-2012 NC trophy was being sent in the mail.

Everyone who has jumped all over the boastful Yale fans says it is because they were undeservedly crowing about the team's (meaningless-your interpretation) early season success. But nobody here is able to produce the evidence. I see three Yale threads on this site. The one started by LTSatch has no such nonsense, and the other two are posts started by fans of teams other than Yale that dump on Yale and it's fans.

Life is good here at Yale, and having a hockey team that is competative, makes the NCAAs, and was even ranked #1 in the country for a while this year is like sweet frosting.
Can't belive we are likely to make a 3rd consecutive trip to the NCAAs. I'll continue to enjoy.
And you know what is even better....if we aren't #1 at the end of the year, life will still be good here.

The difference between me and you is that I respect the other teams. And there is evidence from just last year that no team should be written off before the tournament. Did anyone think RIT was going to make the Frozen Four last year? Most of the Yale bashers on here won't even give Yale credit for being a good team. And that is just ridiculous
