Yale Skating Circles around WHCA

Re: Yale Skating Circles around WHCA

well that's a no brainer....goofer fans

Which is why you were able to answer. Moving on, what about CCHA? I'm giving Ohio State the nod on this one since they insist on being called tOhio State despite the academic disadvantage versus their #1 rival Michigan and the fact that so many great athletes leave OSU for UM.

Re: Yale Skating Circles around WHCA

Let's face it, Yale beating CC is like Boise State or TCU winning a BCS bowl game. Yeah, sure it can happen and it does happen from time to time, but it's one game. It's easy to get fired up when you have two or three "big games" a year. Guess what? #10 MTU went to #1 CC and beat CC two out of three one year and cost them a shot at the NCAA tourney. Was MTU the better team that year? No. There was a reason they finished 10th in the conference. Was MTU the team who won two of three games that particular weekend? Yes. I won't even go so far as to say they were the better team that weekend, they just managed to win some games.

If Yale played CC 10 times this year, Yale would win a majority of those games.

Yale is a good hockey team. It's a bit much to claim they are "skating circles" around a league based upon one victory over a lower division team from that league, but that strange bit of posturing shouldn't diminish the fact that Yale will most likely make the tournament this year, will probably be one of the top 8 seeds, and has a shot at a #1 seed. They have 15 upperclassmen on the team, as contrasted with CC who presently skates 16 freshmen and sophomores. Teams lead by large classes of upperclassmen tend to do well in college hockey, especially if that team has had some success in recent years.

Re: Yale Skating Circles around WHCA

There should be a poll for the most arrogant college hockey fans :

I nominate

ECAC = Yale
H. East = BC

thoughts for west coast Nominees?

Considering that only one hockey school is technically on the West Coast, I'll say Alaska-Anchorage. ;)

Re: Yale Skating Circles around WHCA

Cornell fans are much more arrogant than Yale fans, BC in HE, North Dakota, Atlantic is obviously RIT.

Let's see if Board fixed the photo posting thing:

I disagree with you. Although Cornell's cheering can leave something to be desired, many of their fans are pretty classy (obviously the some fans rule as I had described earlier applies). I would actually have to say that Brown has the most arrogant fans in the KGBC (see RPI's thread for why I call it this). Sitting in the student section at a visiting arena and then demanding respect, while threatening to sue if they don't get it, is beyond the point of stupidity and arrogance. Not to mention some of the cheap tactics the team uses, like delaying icing calls.

I must have missed the "Is Cornell the best team in college hockey" or the "Cornells skating circles around ________" threads ;-)

As far as Cornell, most people who consider themselves "classy" are arrogant, for the Brown comparison, I think you are mistaking dumb juvenile rowdy students for arrogant, they did annoy the heck out of me last year when they knocked off Yale though. :) I don't think you have to worry about scads of arrogant or rowdy Yalie's at Lynah this weekend.

The Brown fans about which I was discussing were most decidedly not current students. They seemed to be parents. As for getting knocked off by Brown, I share your disappointment. ;)

I have not heard a Cornell fan consider himself/herself to be classy. Remember that my loyalties do not lie with Cornell, although I have respect for them. I will not be attending Yale/Cornell, so I would not be able to know about rowdy or arrogant fans without a couple of eyewitnesses.

Re: Yale Skating Circles around WHCA

I don't know why the Yale fans act like their school is so great academically. I mean, you can spell Yale with a 6 and still get in with a donation of an international airport.

To be fair Mr. Burns isn't made of airports!

Re: Yale Skating Circles around WHCA

This is the funniest thread I've read in a long time, starting with the thread title. Everybody knows that Yale are the creampuffs of College Hockey. Its just common knowledge.
