Posted a poll for ECAC's top freshman. You can vote more than once if you feel more than one player warrants a vote...every vote counts!

A vote for Agostino here.

Interesting weekend coming up, can Yale play up to it's potential and kill Harvard at home? The team needs to stay aggressive but also make sure that they stop giving up behind the defense breaks which have led to many penalties recently, they may have been better off letting the breakaways go than taking the chance on the PK kill which was sad against RPI. The Dartmouth game should be hard fought and tight checking wise. Yale needs a four point weekend to get back on track before the next road trip

Nice hard fought win by the Eli tonight. Rondeau certainly deserved first star for his performance and excellent play. Harvard came out hot and Yale gave it right back, the games shots were 35- 34 in favor of Yale. Dartmouth game should be similar.

I hope that this little struggle by Yale might be a bit of a wakeup call. The reason we were playing so well earlier in the year is that we simply worked harder than the other team and in the end our speed, stick skills, and indurance was too much. With our run of wins, we seemed to become a little more relaxed.
Watching yesterday's game, we picked it up a little, but still have a way to go. Broc Little is really disappointing presently. He stands around a lot on the ice and it appears the only thing he cares about is trying to get a breakout- no more good forechecking, backchecking. We need to play much better....and we know we have the potential to do so.
Last year, we faltered in the NCAAs due to our goaltending. Rondeau gives me hope that IF we turn some things around (and we can do that), then we have the potential to reach new postseason heights.

The best Yale line last night by far was the Root, Agostino, Ziegler line. Root and Agostino both play with a maturity that is amazing for their youth, and Ziegler played like a man possessed, banging bodies all over the ice and setting the tone that Yale was not going to be outmuscled in this game like they were in Troy last week. Excellent move by Keith putting Ziegler with the two kids...this line line looks like it can be great for the rest of the season. I agree with you about Broc...he needs to work harder and Denny looks like he is in some kind of fog on the ice lately. Having said all that, this, despite the lack of production, was an excellent win. It shows that Yale can win when they are taken out of their game. There will be more of these games down the stretch

I think Allain might have sent a message by not starting littles line at the opening faceoff, the way kearney and little played, the message went unheard.

Speaking from a Harvard perspective, we'd really like to have these problems.

You guys are clearly down, but I saw a pretty good team out there last night, whether inspired by the rivalry, or just getting better. I thought you guys got the puck out of your own end better than any opponent I've seen this year, making it really hard for Yale to keep the puck in and cycle endlessly, which is their game. I don't know what it takes to get completely out of the woods and actually win games, but Harvard didn't look like a 6 win team last night, certainly not defensively. I can't ever bring myself to say good luck to a Harvard team, but.. better luck for the rest of the season.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

Agreed on Harvard's play. They were much more than a neutral zone trap team last night. They carried the puck out of their defensive zone well all night and Yale never really got their forecheck game going as a result. They also had at least as many quality scoring chances as Yale. It's hard to understand how this team can be in 2nd to last place in the ECAC. They are clearly way more talented than their record indicates

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

Seems like you guys are tanking. Harvard 1 nil? Sounds like Union might be in position to be the true threat from the ECAC. I heard they looked incredible last night against the Tiger. It will be interesting to see if the Bulldogs show up against the Big Green.

We may be going through a rough patch, but I would not call it tanking. Your team could be ranked number one if not for two losses to CC. We have also not resorted to bringing in figure skating coaches to improve our footwork. Betcha nobody calls him Johnny Weir during games.:D

Seriously , tonights game against Dartmouth will be another good test, the only unranked team Yale has lost to is Brown and they are not an easy win on any night.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

It's a reflection of our we must win at all cost and all the time culture, I think, that fans of other teams continually feel the need to come on this forum and denigrate Yale and raz Yale fans. North Dakota has been a hockey power since the dawn of time and 4 1/2 years ago, when Keith Allain was hired, Yale was nearly unwatchable and one of the worst teams in the ECAC. And now, whether you sore losers..oh yes, very sore indeed, as my daughter and I sat next to two of the most obnoxious fans I have ever encountered in Worcester when Yale beat your mighty Sioux, like it or not, Yale is one of the best teams in the country. Whether they are the best team, time will only tell, as the polls mean nothing. The only thing that matters is who is still standing when the tournament is over

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

I read a post on the Harvard thread that claimed the game was fairly clean and pointed out two non-call against Yale as difference makers. I saw a lot of hits on Yale's men at the point where elbows were awfully high and a few after the whistle shots, mostly from Dbag Biega. Are we each seeing with crimson or blue colored glasses?

Oh my !! Where to begin....

a.) There are these things called periods that you use to seperate thoughts and statements. They look like this "."

b.) Fans of other teams don't come here to "raz" Yale fans. They come here to set them straight. Look, Yale is good and has been good for that past 2-3 seasons. But they need to prove themselves. Reputations are built on many good seasons, not 2. No one is or has argued that Yale isn't good. Most of the responses came in response to rather outlandish threads that were being started and statements being made. As a Vermont fan two years in a row of being in the NCAA's and a few good seasons in HE I'm pretty happy with the program despite this years off year. But even when they went to the FF and beat Yale, no one was starting threads make such statments. It's like the drunk trailer trash that won the lottery and became a member of the local country club. Learn a bit of class.

c.) The polls mean nothing... I love it. Absolutely love it. Just curious how many of your fellow fans thought the same thing about a month ago. Of course we could look it up, but then again let's stop kicking that dead horse.

d.) Talk to your AD, have him schedule some good teams, a few high quality wins would change things around in a hurry. Beating the basement dwellers, including Vermont, only adds to the question if Yale is legit. A weekend series against DU, BC, UND, ME, etc would go along ways. But beating cupcakes doesn't do much.

e.) Good luck to Yale, I hope they have a good showing in the NCAA's, they have been good and deserve some respect and beating some top teams will go along ways towards that. And good luck to Yale fans, learn a little modesty, stop and think before you hit the "post" button and you will do well too.

Whoo! Had to turn my speakers down to spare me the sound of the whaaaaambulance.

Gale is still unwatchable, this year is only different because Gale isn't the worst team in the EZAC. Plenty of teams have beaten UND in the regionals and the F4, we could care less who gets the honors of that feat. Each team has it's throng of obnoxious fans so don't brag about getting to sit next to ours at a regional.

Not this fan. I respect the conference and your team. I think the parody of CH is at all time high and that is a very healthy thing. I was simply making an observation as a fan of CH. No raz intended. Loosing is a big part of the game--it's the teams that learning from those loses that rise up in April.--forget about whatever our culture says.

Thanks. I hope Yale makes it all the way to the championship game and brings home the trophy. The ECAC and the Ivies will really benefit. We need kids to understand that they can be great on the ice and in the classroom.

We also were swept by BC and lost to UND and UMD once. I'd rather not be number one--that's bullseye.
