Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

I already proved you wrong several times using facts, logic, and simple math.

No, but throwing around the word "chief" because of my handle, that's just funny and not racist in the slightest.

BAHAHHAHHAHHAHAHHAHAHAH... you used facts and logic BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA. WHen did saying, I'm not talking to you because you are too stupid become "facts and logic"?

Ok, can I use "boss" or is that somehow racist too? I assume if I called you white cloud that would be ractist as well, but really it only means I want to wipe my *** with you

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

You HE fanboys keep gloating, the ECAC is a meatgrinder with the top six teams capable of winning on any given night. Yale played well tonight and just could not solve York, it's becoming a trend that defenses are collapsing on the net and letting Yale have their passes but not giving them quality chances. Sorry this year ECAC is much better and deeper than HE.

Is that why ECAC teams are 8-10-1 against HE teams this year?

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

Man, talk about fair weather fans! Enjoyed all the intelligent, insightful discussion of Yale hockey when you were winning. The team drops two and everyone runs and hides except the two four-year-olds calling each other names.

Would love to hear something worthwhile about the games this weekend. What happened? Is Yale just the fraud many thought they are? One-goal loss to Union is understandable -- top two team in ECAC. But a 5-2 blowout to RPI? Lots of PPGs so maybe it was the officiating. Any explanations? Any excuses?

Hope you enjoyed the position at #1 these past weeks. The reign is over. Don't feel bad since many have risen only to fall.

If you want to be taken seriously as a CH powerhouse, schedule in some real out-of-league opponents. CC is the only team in the top 20 but Air Force, Sacret Heart, VT, & Holy Cross??

True ECAC is a stronger division this year, but prove yourself against top teams if you want to be taken seriously as a contender. You know you'll have to do that in March.

IMO most have stopped posting in this thread due to other teams and leagues supporters, attacking almost every post (inane or not) made by a Yale supporter.

If you did a little research on the RPI game, you would read that even RPI radio announcers and fans have said that Yale outplayed and out shot RPI for the majority of the game and that RPI's goalie York was the main reason that the game was not 7-5 Yale, it was also Rondeaus first soft night this year in the Yale net. All of RPI's goals were PP or man up goals as well. Yale is the real deal, i just think that the ECAC opponenets have figured out that if they collapse the defense around the goaliem that they will allow Yale many shots but block or deflect many. i have stated this more than once this season, Yales offense is not as good as last year, there has been alot of missed finishes and the "killer instinct" is lacking in that regard.

Hope you enjoyed the position at #1 these past weeks. The reign is over. Don't feel bad since many have risen only to fall.

The season isn't over quite yet.

Call the Yale AD, posters here can't change the schedule.

After this weekend we will be happy to be playing in March

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

Gotta be honest, I too was becoming a believer and was starting to think that Yale was the real deal, but if you can't beat the top ECAC teams consistently, gotta think you're going to be in trouble going against some of the other league's heavyweights. You're still obviously a strong team, but just can't see you taking down say a BC, Nodak, and Denver three in a row to win it all. I guess only time will tell...

3 in a row won't win it all.

I'm not one of the WCHA/HE psychos that thinks Yale is actually a *bad* team, but the EZAC as a meatgrinder? Let's look at SOS and KRACH (using the KRACH instead of PWR because KRACH is the one that uses the SOS, not because my team is now #1 in the KRACH.)
Team - SOS (SOS rk) / Rating (rating rk)
Brown - 142.7 (12th rk) / 108.5 (31st)
Clarkson - 94.27 (39th) / 101.8 (32nd)
Colgate - 77.45 (45th) / 15.49 (57th)
Cornell - 85.5 (42nd) / 85.5 (34th)
Dartmouth 108.6 (30th) / 190.0 (15th)
Harvard 99.63 (36th) / 27.17 (53rd)
Princeton - 72.91 (46th) / 156.2 (22nd)
Quinnipiac - 79.22 (44th) / 98.24 (33rd)
Rensselaer 105.5 (33rd) / 250.6 (8th)
St. Lawrence 95.69 (38th) / 59.81 (42nd)
Union - 107.2 (31st) / 238.2 (10th)
Yale - 111.3 (28th) / 432.7 (2nd)

This may be a difficult schedule for, like, Colgate. But this should not be a "meat grinder" for a team like Yale, and if it is that difficult, then they are not as good as you think they are.

I have to agree. Was Yale the #1 team in the country a case could be made that they were and a case could be made that they weren't I'll tell you this they're a good Hockey team.I think they're schedule worked against them this was their first real test of back to back tough games on the road against 2 quality hockey teams looking to knock them off the top of the mountain and they failed the test. When RPI scored the 2 quick goals in the third it broke their backs.Being an RPI fan I didn't for 1 minute think we were out of the woods. There was a 1/2 a period left and 1 goal and its game on.Alan York was lights out and it became very frustrating for them and they let it affect their play. What remains to be seen is how they come out the other side of this weekend. No team in this league can be taken for granted there is a lot of hockey left and a lot of test left.Yale has and will have a target on their back for the rest of the year and they need to take care of business.I hope they can.I for one was proud to have the #1 ranked team in the country in our league and a chance to play them twice to test us and see what we got,and I hope we get to play them again. There is a whole lot of teams that wish they had your problems.Good luck the rest of the season...Hope to see you guys in AC and get it on 1 more time....Go RPI

Nice summary, I hope we see you guys as well.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

Vulnerability on the power play is clearly Yale's big problem right now, with a secondary problem being somewhat slow starts. The Brown and Union games were clearly cases of Yale not really playing their game until the third period. Against RPI, the obvious problem was complete offensive dominnce negated by a goaltender playing an outstanding game -- that happens sometimes..... no big deal. But the big deal has been some very ordinary looking play on the PK -- and RPI was just the worst example. As someone who thought Yale was probably the best team in the country in November, they clearly aren't now -- still very, very talented, and the situation isn't desperate yet -- they can still get it back together, and have plenty of time to do so. Forget trying to define "meat grinder." Great teams know how to get it back together after both bad play as well as good play with bad results. Should be an interesting weekend at Ingalls -- a rivalry game that they ought to win easily (but it's a rivalry game, so who knows) and then a TUC. Can't wait....

Oh, and one more thing. All the haters who noted that four of Yale's wins didn't count in the PWR can pipe down a little. The excluded games are now down to two, as opposed to UMD's 4 wins over Michigan Tech that have all vanished down the memory hole for RPI purposes.

And the new poll is out and we're down to third. About right, I'd say. Let BC carry the torch for awhile. It was a fun eight weeks.

Re: Yale Hockey 2010-2011 thread

I watched the RPI game this weekend and Yale dominated 5 on 5. They seriously kept control of the puck as if on the power play and racked up 40 shots to RPI's 18. That said, York shut them down at every turn, and Yale's PK was dismal. Frustration led to penalties led to goals against. The scoresheet is what it is, a loss. Period.

Hopefully they learn a few things, go back to the special team drawing board and tighten things up for the year-end stretch. I do believe this is an extraordinarily talented team and should remain ranked pretty high at this point. However, they should (and just did) lose the top spot to BC. That team is on fire!
