Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

Late recruit news, Chris Izmirlian to Yale next year. He is currently eighth in scoring in the EJHL he joins his teammate Michael doherty who is currently second in scoring in the same league.

Tyngsboro, MA- The Islanders Hockey Club and Eastern Junior Hockey League are proud to announce Chris Izmirlian’s commitment to Yale University for the fall of 2013. The Highland Beach, FL, native came to the Islanders after graduating from Westminster Prep last year.

“I am very thrilled with the opportunity to play for a tremendous school that offers the perfect mix of hockey and academic excellence. I am very grateful for the opportunity Coaches Allain, Gendron and Muse have offered me and I intend on making every minute count at Yale. A very special thanks to Coach Tremblay who gave me a tremendous opportunity to excel this year, and I couldn’t have done it without my teammates, a very special group of guys who have all become my brothers,” said Izmirlian. ”I also want to thank my billet parents Susan and Adam Jamieson as well as my billet brothers Mike Jamieson, John Jamieson and Austin Surowiec. They have opened their home, taken care of me and welcomed me in a way I will never forget.”

Since joining the Islanders, Izmirlian has played a large role in the team’s success, scoring 22 goals and adding 32 assists in 43 games.

The newest member of the Yale Bulldogs had nothing but gratitude for those who helped him achieve his goal of playing NCAA Division I hockey.

“A hockey player is not created overnight. There are a list of Coaches that I want to thank who have all had a part in shaping me into the player and person I am today. Right after I committed to Yale, they all came to mind and I want to thank Coaches Tim Joncas, Chris Kiene, Bill Bolton, Dave Roberts, Doug Messier, Mark Messier, Bob Howe, Jeff Chychrun and Vlad Cheremeta. I called most of them last night to tell them about Yale and the excitement they all expressed was overwhelming,” he noted.

Izmirlian continued, “Most of all I want to thank my family. None of this would have been possible without their sacrifice, both in time and money. A very special thanks to my Mom (Sonia) and Dad (Charles) for believing in my abilities and stressing that hockey and education go hand in hand. Finally, I want to thank my younger sisters Alexandra and Vanessa for the years of torture they’ve had to endure being dragged around to cold North American rinks. I love you guys!”

Yale competes in the ECAC Hockey League along with five other Ivy League schools and is considered one of the top academic institutions in the United States. The Bulldogs hockey team has won two ECAC tournament titles in the past five years and qualified for the NCAA tournament in 2009, 2010, and 2011.

Also, be aware that I would not be surprised if the ECAC prohibits the free Youtube broadcast of Yale All-Access and ports it to B2. They're doing the same to RPI-TV.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

That's correct. The league has a deal with the ECAC so broadcasts of the playoff games from Ingalls will not be free on youtube like the regular season games were. From what I understand, however, YAA will still be able to produce the games in house so the video/audio quality should be the same.

If you've ever actually seen B2 broadcasts, believe me, it won't be. It will be worse. Much, much worse.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

If Nate's pick are correct, Yale will face SLU in the quarters...not my preferred match up. I'm hoping he's wrong.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

Does anybody know if there is regular TV for the ECAC semi's/finals this year?

Not so fast. If Dartmouth's late season swoon continues, it could be Brown or even Cornell. I don't love those match ups either. Both goalies can steal a series and we all know how good Brown's goalie is against Yale.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

So I just spent some time staring at Yale's PWR standing (what else are you going to do with a week off?) We picked up the Lowell comparison I mentioned last week by the thinnest of margins -- a Lowell win tomorrow flips the comparison back. Of the teams ahead of us, there are very few chances to add comparisons: Minnesota State and Yale are separated by essentially nothing, we could pass Denver if they lose a little RPI (or we gain some) and St. Cloud might conceivably be passed, but only if we face RPI (the school!) in AC and beat them (they played St. Cloud and we're tied in ComOpp with them). On the down side, any of the six teams immediately behind us are pure RPI plays (except RPI, who we might face head-to-head again) and we could conceivably lose comparisons to any of them if they get hot or we stumble. We are really precariously balanced at the moment, but the good news is that if we can get to AC, we still look to be in good shape. TUC comparisons generally don't favor us at the moment (Lowell excluded) but it will help if CC and Cornell win and Holy Cross loses. Brown is about a wash either way at the moment.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

As far as I know on my end, All-Access will not be available on YouTube during the playoffs. But All-Access will produce the video that will be available on a paid America One stream. WYBC will provide the audio for the stream. As usual, WYBC audio will be free on WYBC-AM 1340 and WYBC.com!

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

So it's either going to be SLU (if Dartmouth wins) or Brown (if Harvard wins) I think Dartmouth will win and we'll be facing SLU. Very glad we won't see Cornell, who will be at QPAC (if Dartmouth wins) or at RPI (if Harvard wins) Cornell is finally playing the kind of hockey that their talent says they should be playing.

I was saying on the Yale Mens Facebook group tonight (great people if you have never been on there) http://www.facebook.com/groups/78312317064/ that I would prefer SLU because of Browns defense. Also the three other series in that scenario are going to be all out wars between some big teams. SLU- Yale will be figure skating in comparison.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

I agree and I don't want us to face Borelli, the Brown goalie! On the other hand, I would like QPAC to have to face Cornell. Talk about a tough draw for a 1 seed!

QU is not quite as big, but they are much more talented than Cornell. Gonna be a great weekend of hockey in the New Haven area next week either way, if they ever somehow staggered the game times, my wife would kill me, because I would go to them all. The yellow barking seals from the student section will be out of town this weekend as well I think, but there should be enough bandwagoneers to fill the void.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

Also even if they don't get Cornell, they get a resurgent Harvard team.
