Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

If Nate's predictions are correct, Yale will finish third in the conference. Let's do it, Blue!!

Now 7-0-0 at Ingalls!
I missed the game winner. I just saw Yale gain possession, come down the home side into the zone with ~20 seconds to go, a big flurry, and the lamp light up.

Agostino is instant offense.

Missed the jersey raffle by one ticket for the second time. We'll take the, instead.

Way to go Josh! After a major lapse in the 3rd, Yale fights back. And Andrew Miller's first goal was a thing of beauty. GO BLUE!!!

Josh was on all night. 1st star in my opinion.
His goal appeared to be assisted by a colgate player's stick lying on the ice. From my vantage point, it appeared a Colgate player was attempting to wrap the puck around the boards when it hit the stick and kicked towards the front of the net. I'll have to watch on you tube to verify.

2nd Colgate goal was soft. Malcolm screened?

Nice use of a fire extinguisher to fix the ice, but did it really havetotake 10 minutes?

Is killian hurt? He wasn't in the line up. Witek is a huge liability on d. His faults are too numerous to mention.

Cornell game tomorrow night should be intense.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

The second goal appeared to be accidentally redirected by Obuchowski. And yes. The last goal hit a stick on the ice, then the side of the cage, and then crept out front where Balch pounced.

It's frankly a bit of a mystery to me where that stick came from. The last time Colgate exited the zone all the players seem to have sticks, but then the stick is sitting there when the puck comes back at around 30 seconds. The camera must have just missed it.

Boy that phantom tripping call on Miller in the third could have cost the boys their season. Check out the replay, the referee is standing right next to them and somehow sees something that doesn't happen. It happens at around 2:02 on the youtube video.

Poetic justice in overtime.

I think it was Lough's stick, he was the only Colgate player in the area, he smacked it pretty hard on the ice just before it went off camera.

Thanks skillz. So it is, as you can see if you watch Miller. Amazing what you can see when you know what to look for.

Wish we could petition for Miller to get the helper on that one. Would love to see him break the all time Yale assists record. With 105 now, he would need to catch fire soon to tie the mark at 113. But, knock on wood, the team should have enough games remaining to at least give him a chance.

Just what the Bulldogs needed! The refs let them play and it was a very clean game anyway, but the one penalty that Cornell took was the difference. Malcolm was outstanding, his teammates left him hanging , and he came through several times. Not a pretty win, but a well deserved and much needed rest upcoming.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

Two superb efforts !! Step outside and breathe the fresh air, boys !!!

It's a new season !!

Weberg's hush-hush....quick prayer....Malcolm stood as quite the "Y" at games end, though a "Cross" might have been as appropriate. Honestly, though, the defense did their jobs. Fallen is a rising star for sure. Everyone checked, back and fore.Miller and Agostino clicked on a beaut. The Power play is back. The crunk is out of the system.

Full steam ahead !!

One for all and all for one.

Thanks for such a place to come.

Great team effort for the sweep this weekend giving them a much needed first-round bye! Thoughts on weekend and the team's play.

Malcolm is clearly the backbone of this team. They just seem to play harder in fron of him and hopefully continue to do so

On Defense:
Young has been a stud defensively and continues to bring a much needed physical presence to the team. Kid just seems like a pro-type player, and he is also a breakout machine which has been much needed on this team in the past.
Fallen is always an offensive threat and I havent seen any defensive player bring the offensive game that he can (except maybe #14 on Union - kid made a play every time he touched the puck)
The freshman have been very solid in their contributes which is what this team will need going forward (I especially like #14 obuchowski)

Forwards:
The Agostino-Miller-Root line makes something happen almost every shift they are on the ice... its very exciting to watch and must be hard to defend
Lags - he hasnt scored recently but from what I saw this weekend, he was making things happen almost every shift he was out there
Once again, the freshman class has been very good so far (Wilson with the game winner tonight) which only helps aid the future.
Have to give a shout out to Balch after the way he has played recently... OT winner last night and every time on the ice you seem to notice him. The kid just works so hard.

IMOP, I think this team can do very well in the ECAC Play-offs and hopefully beyond. It will be up to their goaltending (where Malcolm has been rock solid) and the ability for their youth to come up big.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

I've looked at PWR and I've come to the conclusion that -- just about anything can happen. Yale sits today at 12th, but they could pick up the comparison with Lowell today if Lowell loses their game today which would move them into a tie for 10th, but that's not critical at the moment. What is important is that they're in a group of teams with very similar RPI numbers and just about anything can flip those comparisons for better or worse. The good news is that 8th is in really easy reach. The bad news is that so is 16th, which is probably out since this year's parity makes it pretty likely that someone out is going to get an autobid. At the moment, best guess, Yale needs to get to AC and win at least one game there to get in (I don't think it has to be the first one, especially if they face QPac). Yale's next opponent will be either SLU, Brown, Princeton, Cornell or Clarkson. From a PWR perspective, SLU Cornell and Brown are pretty much interchangeable (I think... I haven't checked any of the ComOpp comparisons and won't until we know who we're playing.)
