Yale Bulldogs Hockey 2011 -2012

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey 2011 -2012

Not sure, I did see him play in the scrimmage against the canadian team. He did not get hurt during that game as far as i could tell. Should be a pretty telling weekend in upstate NY, I will be happy if Yale comes out of there with 2 points, Union has been the strongest team in the league thus far in the short season, and RPI will be out for blood at home after some strangely bad losses

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey 2011 -2012

When I was there last week, Anna Liffey's was planning t show this weekends games. I will there with some friends so if you make it say 'hi.'

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey 2011 -2012

Is it true that the father of one of the Yale players basically paid for the Whale upgrade, or did I get that totally wrong?

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey 2011 -2012

I wouldn't be surprised if the rumors you heard were related to Nelson Peltz, father of Yale Sophomore Brad Peltz, he is one of the richest men in America and was or is rumored to be buying the NY Islanders.

LT..... I am sure that you will remember an important "message" from THE GODFATHER trilogy.
No need to discuss "family business" in a public forum. What Mr. Peltz does with his money is HIS business,
not yours, not mine.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey 2011 -2012

Probably right, LT, but the renovation was announced in 2007, three years before Peltz enrolled, and finished the year before he enrolled. Nelson Peltz may have contributed, but if he did, Roland Betts appears to have gotten the lion's share of the credit. That said, the renovation costs are certainly affordable to either one of them. Frankly, Peltz probably contributed less than full freight for 4 years at Yale is going to cost him -- that'll probably be close to half a million or so, counting "expenses."

Just wondering why the thread is focused on ancilliary topics rather than our (suddenly) defensively dominant team. Had to be sweet for the seniors to skate off the hostile Houston Field House Ice to a deafening silence.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey 2011 -2012

BTW nice win for the Bulldogs this evening avenging the drubbing the took at the RPI freakout last season. 2nd shutout for Malcolm. 2 goals per game in every game this season, needless to say we need more offensive output and results.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey 2011 -2012

Clinton Bourbonais is quietly becoming a star. And I wonder what the poster to this thread who wanted to throw Malcolm under the bus and declare the then 3 game old season lost has to say now

Well said yaledoc and and fairly accurately quoted from the trilogy.

Well, for me at least, it's because two games doth not a season make. (Plus, I didn't see either of them.) I'm torn between marvelling at two straight shutouts and worrying frantically about scoring exactly two goals in each of our five first games.

We were worried about you blue, so figured a 3 spot in the first would help you feel better.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey 2011 -2012

Just remember, defense wins championships. This year's team doesn't look to be as offensively prolific as last year's team, but last year's team got swept at RPI and Union, whereas this year's team will come out of this weekend with 4 big pts. After the Cornell debacle I figured the BC game would be a wipe out. Now, I think it could be one of thosegames that foreshadows the postseason.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey 2011 -2012

Thanks, everybody. I feel better now. Three straight shutouts? Sweet. Outshot 17-4 in the 3rd period, though, and 45-26 for the game. I await the observations of somebody who saw the game...

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey 2011 -2012

Wow, outshot again and by a wide margin! Better to score with the shots you have than to run up the shots on goal stat with no payoff though. I am starting to think that this is the kind ofteam we will have this year and its all part of Keith Allain's master plan.
