Worst Frozen Four Ever

Re: Worst Frozen Four Ever

Haven't read back through the thread yet, but my general thinking is that if you've ever had a "worst FF," then you're doing it wrong.

Re: Worst Frozen Four Ever

I had an awesome time, mostly because of the results but also in good part to all the great people I met.

the players did not complain about the ice too much and my only gripes were with the lack of atmosphere. a lot of the BC contingent were families so we are not as loud or obnoxious but I fully expected to hear that place roar with all the wisco fans. I guess when your team is up by a touchdown thursday it's easier to cheer but you guys were invisible after opening faceoff Saturday

If the current WCHA and current HEA were to play round-robin home-and-home series

Do we really want to see MTU and PC struggle to 0-0 ties that would make Twitch Boy and myself spontaneously burst into flames?

Re: Worst Frozen Four Ever

If the current WCHA and current HEA were to play round-robin home-and-home series, I seriously doubt HEA's overall winning percentage would be close to 0.500. And without BC and BU's record it would probably be closer to 0.333.

So why not start a WCHA-HEA challenge like the Big Ten-ACC challenge in basketball?

His vastly superior knowledge of everything. I mean, he DID call me a child, which makes him an adult, which makes him more knowledgeable than me. Infallible logic if I've ever heard it!

Re: Worst Frozen Four Ever

Ok, the top teams in the Big 4 can all skate with each other (not that Wisconsin and Miami proved that this weekend), and any of those teams can beat any other of those teams, the two most recent tournaments prove that.

Re: Worst Frozen Four Ever

Every now and then a Lowell or a Providence steps up to near-greatness when they get a few truly talented players, but they revert to also-rans quickly. BC and BU get the pick of the New England litter just like Minnesota did with Minnesota HS talent until SCSU, UM-D, and MSU-M started siphoning off some (*some*) of the talent. If the current WCHA and current HEA were to play round-robin home-and-home series, I seriously doubt HEA's overall winning percentage would be close to 0.500. And without BC and BU's record it would probably be closer to 0.333.

tier one - bc (hea)
tier two - bu (hea) unh (hea) den (wcha) uw (whca) sioux (wcha)
tier three - umo (hea) umtc (whca)
tier four - jbsu (wcha) cc (wcha) uvm (hea)
tier five - uml (hea) umd (wcha)
tier six - nu (hea) uma (hea)
tier seven - uaa (wcha) mankato (wcha)
tier eight - mc (hea)
tier nine - pc (hea) mtu (wcha)

...looks like .500 to me (especially once you get umtc out of their home rink instead of inviting stiffs in for OOC and Dodge opening round games ;) :p ).

Makes me miss the days when Hockey East and the WCHA played each other as league games. It was short lived, but was really cool.

Re: Worst Frozen Four Ever

This was my first frozen four so I will not comment on anything beside what I know. It was incredibly disappointing to walk into a virtually unused football field to watch a college hockey game. The rink looked awful, the stadium was pretty much built for sound absorption and it caused the players to not play to their fullest. (If I get any you're ****ed because RIT lost crap I'll be ****ed. Wisco handed us our tails and deserved at chance at the national title.)

For the few fans that attended the skills comp Saturday night this is the best example. These kids who are supposed to be some of the best skaters in D1 college hockey couldn't keep a blade doing simple laps and they were furious about their showing.

But congrats BC you earned it!

Re: Worst Frozen Four Ever

The fact that the RIT fans seemed to be as much of a story as the games on the ice should say something about the quality of this Frozen Four.

This was my first time attending a Frozen Four and I had a blast in spite of my team getting whipped in the semifinals. I will say it seemed like the games were not quite as quality as I would have thought though.

Re: Worst Frozen Four Ever

I'm completely serious... I would need to give you a 3-4 hour long lesson in audio engineering to back that point up.

I just went back and re-read that and can completely understand why you would write that.

The ice sucked... thats why the players couldn't compete to their fullest. That should have been in a completely different part of my rant. My apologies.

Re: Worst Frozen Four Ever

They should think about getting an NFL team to play there. :D

I was REALLY hoping someone would get the subtle humor there. And I completely agree even though getting to watch a team finally go 0-16 was incredibly entertaining. But that's a discussion for a different website. :D

Re: Worst Frozen Four Ever

Ill be in the minority here but i for one enjoyed my time at the frozen 4. Being from the area an attending the final 4 as well both 2 me were great events in different ways. It could have been set up better yes such as placing the rink at mid field but no way your going to sell 60,000 tickets to a college game. As for atmospher it could have been better yes if michigan would have beaten Miami guranteed the Michigan faithfull would have been in full effect. As for the Ice conditions i talked to a few guys on Miami and it wasnt as bad as it looked on tv. Got a few calls during the game asking how i thought it looked personally and ill admit it did not look great but the players said it wasnt that bad. All in All i had a great time, and i was sitting in the riser seats for games in the semis and had no complaints.
