World Soccer XXXI: Golden Generation?

Take even a surface glance at the history of the game and you’ll see how much the Euros want to have all the power in the game. It isn’t just the US that gets shafted, it’s the rest of the world too. This is just another battle against European hegemony of the game.
You understand this goes well beyond the "history of the game" right? Like, the British and Americans are among the most terrible villains in the last millennia, which is impressive since we've only been on the stage for 250 years. Or are you laboring under the impression that the United States is one of the most oppressed parties in the world and these evil countries have been tempting us with their filthy bananas and pineapples and oil and minerals? We couldn't help but conquer their lands, overthrow their elected leaders and steal their natural resources. It's their own fault!

Oh fucks sake that’s completely irrelevant to the discussion. I’m not laboring under the impression that the US is an oppressed party on the global stage, that’s ridiculous.

I am saying that, when it comes to the sport of soccer and the political and power struggles within the game, the US is viewed as an unimportant player who exists only to make money off of for the benefit of the wealthy Europeans.

That’s what this whole situation is really about. It’s a challenge to the long held European power structure of the game.

Then that’s just another contradiction by the Europeans, because they’ve had zero problems exerting political influence on the game in the past.

Again, they’re just upset we’re doing the things that they do for our benefit.

Apparently there isn't a problem with South America? Or is that European as well?

WNBA was political last year. Is still political and that sport is a pimple on a gnat's ass compared to Men's Soccer. At this point all sports are tainted as far as I'm concerned.

Dude, you need to branch out more. While it's very accurate that the US is far from a perfect country, neither are ANY of the European ones.

Trace the history of what they each did in world, and you can trace most conflicts that tried to erase people can be traced back to them. European treated people all over the world like total crap, and still do- it was Italy who claimed that the African teams were fillers, forgetting his countries attempt to colonize much of the continent to revive "Rome". Or if we talk Belgium, they were the source of genocide in central Africa because THEY labeled different groups to hate each other. Heck, slavery in the America's is a European thing.

UEFA countries are throwing stones from glass houses. And lest we forget FIFA justified the deaths of how many workers to get the recent WC in the middle east?

Screw their scorn. They need to look in the mirror first. Heck, they are just wanting US money, not for us to take the game seriously.

At least Professional Cornhole will always be clean!

Sad thing is the appeal may have gone through even if Trump never got involved and if so much of the furor would be tempered. I'm not even convinced his involvement had any impact.

Watch will happen now. Belgium will lose their appeal, the U.S. will announce they're sitting him, and the world will cry foul anyway, claiming Belgium actually won behind closed doors and the U.S. is only sitting him to save face.

Fun, fun, fun.

Belgium already had their appeal dismissed because it was ruled Belgium didn’t have standing.

And Balogun will play. You don’t go through all this trouble to not play him.

FIFA was clear: There was no appeals process for World Cup red cards. Then USMNT forward Folarin Balogun's suspension was lifted anyway. Balogun was the 12th player to receive a red card at this World Cup. All the others either served a suspension at the tournament or, because their team were eliminated, will do so in their next competitive game(s).

UEFA said that FIFA “crossed a red line” by suspending USMNT Folarin Balogun’s one-game ban and doing so in the middle of the World Cup, has put the integrity of the game "at stake" and set a precedent.
“We express our disbelief at such an unprecedented, incomprehensible and unjustifiable decision.”

In all this I feel really badly for Madibo. He receives a five match ban and no one cares enough to appeal it. You'd think the government of Qatar could come up with another plane to give Gianni as a ̶b̶r̶i̶b̶e̶ gift so the punishment would be eased up.

I doubt it. Humanity's impetus is to commit crimes. Cheat, lie, steal. Corruption is more important than any virtue.
Clean. Cornhole. Maybe I should have put this in the Jokes thread...

Meanwhile the child rapist war criminal says he didn't even know what a red card was. Which is really funny considering A) Infantino explained to him in the Oval Office what a red card was and even gave him one to use to "fire" people and B) he played a season of soccer in high school.

Belgian Federation inform US Soccer they will contest Balogun’s eligibility after the game if selected, and now France and England are appealing red card game suspensions ahead of their next matches.

Have FIFA announced a replay of the 2006 final since the red card given to Zidane was a tremendous injustice?
