You could possibly argue he did get the ball. I don't believe it was as egregious as some are making it. But it just as easily could have been called as well. I'll let Jim chime in.

Depends on what you’ve heard. Should it have been a penalty kick? Yeah. Was it a nasty lunge that should’ve been a red card? No.

From that same game where the English goalkeeper and Ghanian forward collided and called a foul on Ghana, I thought that was the right call. You can see the Ghanian forward missed the ball and kick Pickford in the leg.
