World Soccer XXXI: Golden Generation?

Another dumb question- do the ultra stars really pay that much attention to each other like the talking heads all talk about? Like when Mbappe scored twice, all of them decided that they are all of a sudden going to score more than one?

Seems kind of childish if that is the case.

The problem is that when they do well, you can't really tell the difference between what they need to do and everyone thinking that they are trying to match other superstars.

Maybe I'm missing something, but as I see the targets: 1) win the game and 2) score as much as you can for goal differential. So as I see it, Messi getting a hattie last night has more to do with making sure there's no question where Argentina should be seeded in the next round as opposed to trying to out do Mbappe and Holland.
I think you underestimate the massive egos these guys have. They not only want to win but they want to be the center of attention when they do. Hell, they practically run the teams they’re on, at least in the case of Messi and CR. The managers are there do whatever keeps the them happy.

Over the years, I can see that in CR. Less in everyone else.

But their egos go as far as they can force their teams to win. I know many years ago, my opinion between CR and Messi shifted to Messi even though at the time CR was considered the better player. Messi seemingly did more to get his team to win. This was a long time ago.

Anyway, thanks for answering. The talking head adoration of these guys gets old.

I guess a clothesline isn't violent conduct....

1-1 draw the final.
CR can blame himself, too- I saw three touches in the box- to on his feet and one head. Nothing. And the talking heads are blaming his team for not feeding him... ok.

He was also cherry picking a lot- it would have been funny for him to have gotten a pass-goal when he was 5 m off side.
