The best group I got for Team USA was Group A: Qatar, Poland and Ghana. The worst was debatable - there are lots of scary draws out there. Arguably the worst was Group E: Argentina (#4 in Pot 1), Senegal (#1 in Pot 3), UEFA qualifier (probably #1 in Pot 4). There were two average draws: Group B with France and either Poland/Cameroon or Tunisia/Peru.
 
Do these draw sites use the actual draw rules? Where only 5 groups will have an extra EU team, and other continents can't be drawn together for group stage, etc.?

I can't speak to the one linked here, but it seems that way. The first does have those rules.
 
I learned something on r/soccer today: Germany has a total of 3 losses in their World Cup Qualifying history, all at home (Portugal in 1986, England in 2002, North Macedonia in 2022).

All time record: 104 played, 83 wins, 18 draws, 3 losses, 328 GF, 74 GA.
 
I'd be fine with these groups.

Holy hell.
 
So here’s my “teams I’d like to avoid”:

Pot 1: Pretty much anyone not named Spain or Portugal. Yeah, I know Qatar but they’re the reigning Asian champions, they took the US to the wire at the Gold Cup, and they’re at home where they’ll undoubtedly get some home cookin’. No thanks.

Pot 2: Thankfully they’re in this pot.

Pot 3: Senegal and Iran. It’s probable we’d get a Euro team out of this pot and Poland and Serbia are the least worst options. Iran, Morocco and Tunisia would suck as well. I’m not wanting an Arab/Middle East team at a “home” World Cup.

Pot 4: Not the Euro playoff team or the Saudis. Wales or Ukraine would suck and the Saudis close to home would be worse.
 
Best I can tell, if FIFA waited until all the teams were qualified, these teams would get moved:

Pot 4 to Pot 3:
Wales/Scotland/Ukraine
Peru if they beat Australia

Pot 3 to 4:
Tunisia
Korea if Peru wins

That’s without taking into account any points changes that would happen from those results. Like a Costa Rica win over the Kiwis, or an Aussie win over Peru would likely put both over Korea to move to Pot 3.

Edit: actually, not sure if that simulator recalculates the rankings or not when it gives results, so the final paragraph may not apply.

Between Qatar’s sportswashing propaganda and FIFA’s ever present self aggrandizing I am, for the first time, happy Fox has been cutting back to Alexi Lalas.
