Re: World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football
A point in Azteca is worth so much more than a point.

Those Mexican kits are sweet. But ours are, atypically, not stomach churning. Baby steps.
I had no idea Bruce Arena looks like the lovechild of Carl Sagan and Gene Rayburn.
Yeah, I understand commercially why we can't seem to settle on a design but it'd be nice if US Soccer could pick one jerseys that doesn't really change while the rest get tweaked...There is nothing about our jerseys that tells someone else that USA is playing if you just turn on a game and the graphics were not working...
This, just this. It was recognizable and unique. We also need something as simple, clean and instantly recognizable as this.
My first recommendation would be The Lady Herself, but the Rags may have ruined that forever.
I'd actually love an absolutely clean, iconic minimalist drawing of this, my favorite moment in American history for everything it says about who we are.
While the popularity of the National Team growing has been a largely good thing, the annoyance of the Johnny Come Lately still gets to me. "The US should've won, we're regressing playing bunker and counter! CONCACAF Qualifying is a cakewalk!" No we're not regressing, it's hard as **** to play at Azteca and pretty much every other road game in CONCACAF. A point is very much a good thing.![]()

Eurosnobs love to rag on CONCACAF Qualifying but then talk about how Euro Qualifying is so tough. Wish our group had Andorra or San Marino or Faroe Islands along with the highly centralized nature of UEFA resulting in better field conditions and referees.Very true...I don't think anyone realizes how difficult road games in CONCACAF really are...It's part of the laughter from Europeans too...they don't realize how crappy the conditions can be at pretty much all but USA and Canada can be for the visitor. The US has never won at Azteca in a WC Qualifier and rarely gotten goals let alone points there...EVER.
