**** Mexico

OTOH, the referee did miss a blatant send off by Mexico that likely would affected the match.

It’s because, unlike hockey, people have actively derided the sport as “boring” or “gay” or “only for foreigners” etc. for decades. It’s actually worse for the MNT and MLS, even people who like the sport (people who will wake up at whatever morning time to watch EPL or Real/Barca) will be like “it’s trash” or “they ****ing suck why do they even pay them?”

The article I linked is mostly a call out to those people, people who’ll spend hundreds going to a pointless Euro exhibition and then loudly complain the WNT doesn’t make as much money while being incapable of going down the street to an NWSL game and spending $20.

To me, it is boring, for the most part. "gay" or for "f*ots?" Not in my vocabulary. I do reference "field fairies," but that is not in reference to their sexuality, it's in direct reference to diving, which was correctly stated that it happens more often on the men's side. Some of the fouls/hits today would have the men in a hospital, or so one would think.

That being said, no matter what I think of the sport, I will openly root for my country, wish well on them, and be happy for the true fans. They are on Cloud 9 right now, and that brings a smile to my face. Added: For Rapinoe, the critics and she goes and gets the Golden Boot and Golden Shoe(?) for the tourney?! Good on her. Love it.

This is gonna need some ‘splaining:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">No foul <a href="https://t.co/37UOSwRyhO">pic.twitter.com/37UOSwRyhO</a></p>— Jan K. van Dalen (@Jankvd) <a href="https://twitter.com/Jankvd/status/1148066349098422273?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">July 8, 2019</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Your opinion has been noted and logged.

Do you have any evidence otherwise?

I’ll watch Premier League over MLS mostly because they know who they are. MLS has no actual character other than trying to be someone else. Just like most US football. With predictable results.

Because people like you are impossible to please. MLS could give you a $100 and you’d complain about the way it was folded.

Won't happen.

It will. Pretty soon CONCACAF will have to implement VAR, otherwise CONCACAF referees won’t be going to FIFA tournaments. And with VAR that isn’t going to be missed.

They may have to implement VAR...but I'll eat my hat if they actually explain why that didn't get called at all.

Oh they won’t, it’s CONCACAF. And the referee will skate through unharmed because he’s young and he did what the powers that be ask for. And he’s likely to go to the next World Cup because he does that and he’s from a country with a slim chance of ever qualifying.

The clock is ticking on this stuff from CONCACAF though, it just depends on how long they can put off VAR.
