Interesting tactics by the US here. They’re fouling Mexico hard, daring the referee to issue the caution knowing full well he won’t. The knock on effect is that Mexico is kind of frustrated.

The article I linked is mostly a call out to those people, people who’ll spend hundreds going to a pointless Euro exhibition and then loudly complain the WNT doesn’t make as much money while being incapable of going down the street to an NWSL game and spending $20.

Jim, can you address the referees refusal to issue cards in this game? As physical as this game has become and then the extra curricular exchange that happened to start the half I don't see talking to players lasting much longer... Why not issue a yellow as a "warning shot" when you have physical confrontations/cheap shots happening?

Just curious how soccer refs address this.

It’s a directive by the powers that be to basically keep games 11v11 as much as possible plus a referee confident enough to believe he can manage the game via personality.

I would’ve given Jozy a yellow without blinking but he’s a FIFA referee and I’m a Grade 6.

The amount of times in this game I’ve seen a foul and said “that’s a yellow”.
