Re: World Soccer XXI: Don't Tread on the Red, White, and Blue

Those first 3 will be tape delayed, but the one on Super Bowl Sunday will be live.

Not too hard to guess what the TBD game will be, as that's a Man United - Chelsea weekend. (Also Liverpool-Spurs, but I'd say that ranks a distant second).

I'd think they'd want a different matchup considering they're only showing a few games, but who knows.

Even in wildly popular sports like the NFL (where you have "regional" coverage), they skew the coverage towards glamor teams and big names. That tendency grows stronger with "niche" sports like soccer. I don't care if they already showed the other MU-Chelsea match, I'll eat my hat if they show LFC-THFC instead.

you must be wrong...by your logic, ESPN would show Red Sox-Yankees all the time and the NBA would have the Lakers or Celtics on every big game...and we know that doesn't happen;)

Money makes the world go 'round...on a day like that they'll put the two most noteworthy teams on...much of the SB day audience won't have even known there was a previous game much less watched it.

The NASCAR race is running long, so the USA-BEL game has been moved to ESPN2. Pre-game on now.

ESPN thanking Sweet Jesus that the US Open is in rain delay I'm sure.

Grant Wahl has an interesting thought...large # of people set the DVR to record the game on ESPN...hope they can set the DVR remotely...

Bob Ley just confirmed that if tennis was on this game would have been relegated to ESPN Classic

Yup, that's me. And no, I can't. Not terribly bothered about it, but yes, annoying.

DC United signs a MF named Stephen King

(Insert jokes here)

Whoever has the best one wins.

In other news, the New York Red Bulls have signed Dean Koontz...

How bad are the Revs that even a hardcore New Englander won't play for them?

That whole baseball fan thing was just a front while he got in 90 minute shape...

Stephen King is not his real name, he's actually Richard Bachman.

He sets a quota of 2 goals per game and will not stop playing until this is achieved.

He's researching for his new book: The Dark Tower: Screaming Eagles.

Plymouth Argyle is in trouble. Rumors of administration and players going on strike for no pay. Here's hoping it all gets sorted out. Seeing Portsmouth go into Administration, get relegated, and then get almost liquidated was incredibly difficult. I don't wish that on any team's fans. Hopefully it can all work out.

Argyle has history. Paul Mariner came from there before he hit it big. I do hope they find a way out of this. No team deserves it.

Not bad. Arguably a foul in the buildup to Fulham's equalizer, but for me City's first was offside too, so I guess it balances out.

Thanks Fulham. United up 3-1 approaching the 80th minute.
