World Soccer XXI: Don't Tread on the Red, White, and Blue

Wow, terrible reffing in New England tonight. NYRB are already down 2-0 (they did that on their own), but McCarty is taken down by Shuttleworth in the box and after initially being awarded a penalty kick, the referee went to the AR, changed the call. He gave McCarty a yellow for diving and gave NE the ball. Replays showed there was absolutely no mistaking the keeper taking down McCarty. Terrible.
I suppose on the other end of the spectrum USSF referee Mark Geiger is in charge of the U20 World Cup Final.

Re: World Soccer XXI: Don't Tread on the Red, White, and Blue

As much as I appreciate American soccer and the MLS, it was a treat to watch Liverpool-Arsenal today which in general embodied some of the major differences in their players. Crisp passing, solid on the ball techniques, amazing footwork and the ability to turn even bad passes into retained possession, etc, although even the best European players have a knack for completely missing the net. :D I know that's nothing earth-shattering for fans, but the level of play is so much better at even the smallest nuance. Although Carroll reminds me of "Jarod?" from Fexico.

better print it out this week, Villa at the top of the table. They actually start off with a very weak schedule and may linger near the top for a spell.

hopefully that gives them some confidence and chance to get used to a new manager and new players because at some point the schedule will tip the other way

Wolves go top after beating Fulham. Who'd have thought. Go Wanderers!

Standings upside down! Love it

I enjoyed the flying to every home game and living in Moscow part. I guess if you're a Russian oligarch you think it won't last forever and need to spend it quickly.

the micro-giraffe gets fussy if you're gone for more than a day

Danny Welbeck is turning into a great player. 3-0 United.

However, De Gea almost turned that shot off the post into a circus.

And to celebrate Eto'o moving to Russia.

Nasri is apparently heading to City for 22 million. Arsenal goes into this summer talking about strengthening the squad, and then they sell Cesc and Nasri for 50-60 million, along with Clichy and several others, and don't bring in a whole lot. This could be the year Arsenal slides out of the top four.

Makes you wonder if they up their bids for MLS players. (They've reportedly offered for Tim Ream and Brek Shea but had them turned down)

They might have trouble winning an appeal for a work permit for Ream.

Seattle didn't invent winning in Mexico, but they perfected it! :D

Seattle - 1, Monterrey - 0.

Glorious. Muck Fexico now and forever. The growth of MLS is why I'm confident the future is ours even if the next few years maybe, uh...unpleasant, from a national team perspective vis a vis El Tri.
