Backe is so **** stubborn in keeping keel in. There's got to be a young player who can be a better stop gap than him.
I'm not sure I see why that's necessarily the case.

Keel is tall. That is his redeeming quality on the field. He can head balls others can't. Last night on three separate occasions he headed balls right to Sounders players. He has no touch on the ball, makes few quality passes, can't dribble to save his life and is slow.

Charlie Davies fined $1000 for "putting the game into disrepute" with his dive. Not against that really, but sets one heck of a precedent.

Continuing the fining theme, NYRB GM Eric Soler was fined $10,000 for "public criticism of league officials".

Keel is pretty bad, yes. I don't see why it's necessarily the case that the young guys are any better.

If they want to curb the diving issue...they need to start issuing bans too. 5 match ban if you are caught diving and you win a penalty....That might help.

My issue is that Keel has been pretty bad and Backe doesn't even try someone else. I'm not saying any of the kids are definitely better, but could it hurt to get them in for a few minutes in a game, there's an opportunity to see what young players have. Da Luz got his chance from the injuries and Gold Cup callups and he's shown some promise. The same in the center back position is all I'm asking.

Heck of game going on between Seattle and New York.

Seattle's third and fourth goals by Roger Levesque. From? Falmouth High School in Falmouth, Maine.

Re: World Soccer XX: I paid Jack Warner $1M for the right to start this thread

I knew he was from Maine but not where in. I was hoping for the delicious irony of Portland...

One town over.

Falmouth and NYA had some epic battles back when he played...we usually got the better of it though :p Was obvious back then that he had the skill to make it. Easily the best player I've ever seen in person.

Whew. It's a good thing all the MLS games are being played this evening. Heaven forbid some of them be played in the afternoon so fans could watch both them and the Gold Cup.

What time is the Gold Cup game? I'm gonna have to go to a bar...

Good effort, but Bob Bradley is crazy like a fox. (I hope).

Howard;
Cherundolo, Bocanegra, Goodson, Lichaj;
Bradley, Jones; Donovan, Adu, Bedoya;
Dempsey

Interesting lineup, I think it's an attempt to win the possession battle, which will be a key in establishing tempo.

Golllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

Dempsey heads in a corner in the 8th minute.

I'm watching on Univision and the only things I've understood so far is "Dempsey" "GOL" and "USA"
