Danny Alves involved. No surprise with him. His play acting got Van Persie the first of two yellows when Arsenal lost to Barca in the CL. He's one of the worst around. Too bad, as otherwise he's a quality player.

Yeah me too.

Should've been 15.

I don't know. I get a little uneasy when a league starts basing punishments on injuries like this. I mean, if you want to stomp out reckless play, godspeed to you, I'm all for that. But if Mullan's tackle didn't result in such an injury, would the punishment have been the same? I seriously doubt it. If MLS truly wants to get rid of poor tackles, they darn well better be ready to suspend David Beckham...

I mean, was Mullan's tackle (and it was terrible, don't misinterpret what I'm saying here) any worse than the 2nd one in this Week in Review? But because one player got out of the way while the other didn't, the punishments are wildly disproportionate.

Goal line tech is going to be an issue again this week after Chelsea is given a goal that wasn't after a Gomes error.

Fulham won 3-0... on the road? What?

I'll give Arsenal credit. They deserved the full 3 points aganst United. The Devils certainly making it easy on themselves.

Glad to see Arsenal win, but as usual they tease their fans with not quite enough success to win hardware. If they can beat ManU, how come they kept flopping against lesser competition for the last month?

Norwich City back in the Premier League!

Norwich City back in the Premier League!

With a 0-1 win at Portsmouth this afternoon Norwich have put themselves out of the reach of third place Cardiff City. At the beginning of last season they lost 7-1 against Colchester and stood in last place in the third division (Southampton were actually below them with negative points) and seemed poised to fall apart entirely. Since then they've put together a team composed almost entirely of League One and League Two journeymen who have somehow managed to take the Championship by storm and make it to the land of milk and honey. I'm still not entirely sure that I can comprehend that.

I'm really hoping that Paul Lambert keeps the core of the team together and continues playing an attractive passing game. The current team is nowhere near good enough to challenge at the top of the Premiership, but they absolutely play well together and the whole is much greater than the sum of the parts. It's hard to place a monetary value on that, and i think it's likely to be enough to get ahead of three teams next season. The Canaries packed their stadium full in the third tier, and they'll be out in force supporting them against the Manchester Uniteds and Arsenals of the world too. It'll be fun to see how it plays out :)

Thanks for tolerating my Norwich post of the year, and it'll be nice to actually be somewhat relevant to the prevailing conversations next year!

Solid win for you guys at Fratton Fortress. Portsmouth had a few nice runs this season, but a few awful stretches of play as well. With the financial situation FINALLY taken care of, here's hoping Pompey is back up in the top flight after next year!

I've always liked Pompey. Their ownership situation has certainly been messed up in the last few years, but the fans have always been awesome. Fratton Park has always been know as an intense place to play, and the fans deserve better. Next season I'd love to see you guys beat Ipswich a couple of times en route to a return to the top flight!

Congratulations on the promotion! If nothing else it will be nice to have Norwich in the Premier League because their colors are different from everyone else's black and white/red and white/blue and white - and to have a team coming up that kicks the ball instead of their opponents. And you did it without using ineligible players! (Though now that the FA set a precedent of just a slap on the wrist with West Ham, that's probably what QPR will get too.)

Newcastle has a new kit as well.

United blitz Schalke 4-1 to advance 6-1 on aggregate. Barca are already talking about how they beat the best team in Real. Hope they realize United aren't a bunch of bums. (Despite what the board thinks.) Don't get too cocky, Pep. :D

I think it's just self-aggrandizement by saying "the second best team in our league is better than the best team in England". I can't imagine they're looking past anyone after they lost to Sociedad over the weekend.

Looks as if Scottish businessman Craig Whyte may be in line to buy Rangers. Let's hope he can bring stability to the club.

Awesome to see Eric Abidal back on the field for Barcelona, less than two months after being diagnosed with a tumor on his liver. How's that for a speedy recovery?

Re: World Soccer XX: I paid Jack Warner $1M for the right to start this thread

United only a draw in their last 2 to get their record-setting 19th English top flight crown after dropping Chelsea 2-1. Sorry, Roman. :D
