World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

The Wilpons aren't even capable of competently running the one team they ALREADY own, thankyouverymuch.

If they sell the Mets to buy a soccer team, everybody wins. They could even call them Los Dodgers.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Side note, I read something a few weeks ago about Chivas looking into their own stadium in San Diego. Something about being tired of being second class citizens in the HDC. Having the Guadalajara club's fan base anywhere there are Mexicans would make that a smooth transition I would think.

It's not like there aren't Mexicans in LA though is it? I get the impression that many fans of Guadalajara aren't too interested in the MLS version.

Maybe they should just have the Mexican Team play in Mexico? Would have to think that perhaps one of the resort towns like Puetro Vallarta wouldn't mind having an MLS franchise. Would also pretty much demand that the Mexican media pay more attention overall to MLS too.

Tis a thought anyways.....

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Given how bad Spurs have tended to play in league matches immediately after big European matches lately, why rule out Villa's taking all the points?

Especially because Spurs are starting Tom Huddlestone at central defense. Ledley King (one of the two healthy central defenders) still cannot play two matches in a week. Even worse? Jermaine Jenas is coming in to take Huddlestone's spot in the midfield.

Interesting USA news today:

Eddie Johnson is starting up top for Fulham alongside Clint Dempsey, facing Robert Green. Think Dempsey will fire from wherever he gets the ball?

Also, Stuart Holden got his second three year contract extension this year from Bolton. Watch him in a Bolton match if you get a chance, he has been terrific in central midfield. He should be the bedrock of the national team midfield for years to come.

Sunderland - Man U is going to start 20 minutes late. Shall we wager on what ESPN2 does at noon? Cut off the last 20 minutes of the match or join Miami-Clemson in progress?

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Villa scores first. On the plus side, none of these defenders will be starting next month for Spurs.

Miami-Clemson at the start... then everybody should e-mail them asking to explain why lacrosse gets to run full time and soccer doesn't.

They can put the Clemson-Miami game on ESPN instead of the Division I-AA game they have scheduled.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Someone needs to slap Steve Bruce in the face. How often is it you get a chance to beat United like this, and he's refusing to go for it.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

The football game is available on ESPN3.com and will be seen at the conclusion of soccer.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

OK, United. You can seriously start playing. You are better than Sunderland. Ugh. So annoying.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Is Liverpool really a relegation candidate? Is this the world we live in?
