Some crazy math potential in Group H. If Spain and Switzerland both win tomorrow, there'll be three teams tied for first with 6 points (plus Honduras in last with nada).

Isn't their some FIFA regulation that if two or more teams are tied in the group stage through differential and goals scored, the games go extra time??

no.

group position is decided as follows:

a) greatest number of points obtained in all group matches;
b) goal difference in all group matches;
c) greatest number of goals scored in all group matches.

If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the above three criteria, their rankings will be determined as follows:
d) greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned;
e) goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned;
f) greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the teams concerned;
g) drawing of lots by the FIFA Organising Committee.

Yeah, it is crazy math. If I figured this right, Spain and Chile can't finish tied in all three tiebreakers. If Spain beats Chile 1-0 and Switzerland wins 2-0, then Spain and Switzerland would be tied, but they'd both be better than Chile in goals scored, so if there's any drawing of lots it would be for first or second place, not to see who goes on and who goes home. It would be a shame if that happened, unless it were Italy or France that got sent home, but it's soooo much more satisfying that they're out because they got beat on the field and not in a coin flip.

To me, the true surprises are Slovakia and South Korea. I'd take my chances against them (Uruguay and Netherlands?)

Re: World Soccer XV: Diver Down

correct me if i'm wrong, but all japan needs is a draw to advance? and denmark needs to win?

Re: World Soccer XV: Diver Down

well i'd say this is pretty surprising

japan having no issues with the ball on free kicks
