World Soccer XV: Diver Down

Re: World Soccer XV: Diver Down

The Serbs are already making noise about playing us in the Round of 16, want revenge for the Balkans back in the 90s.

Re: World Soccer XV: Diver Down

I could care less. But now I want to see Ghana-Germany tie and Serbia to win so we get Serbia and you get Ghana and Germany crashes out. :)
Then you're not a typical England fan. The ones I know will hate that they finished behind the U.S.

Here's hoping for England vs. Germany in the second round. :D

Re: World Soccer XV: Diver Down

Germany, Ghana or Serbia. If Germany wins vs. Ghana they will likely win the group, if they tie or lose they are likely out.

Either way, I don't think we will play them.

England while happy for the advancement, will regret not scoring a second goal.

Australia can still finish runner up in Group D. Come on Soccerroos.

bring it

edit: I'll stand by the insult I wrote... but that may cause problems in general... wanting revenge for not being allowed to more efficiently kill other people because of their blood is disgusting.

Re: World Soccer XV: Diver Down

Germany on penalties. How else would that game end?

The Germans grab an early lead when they blitz through the English defenses, but England is then able to stifle the German aerial attack until the end of the game when the English call on their old friends and the Americans score two goals for the win. :D

I think I know quite a few more England fans than you, and we're all just happy we got out of the group at all. Especially after how poorly the team played against Algeria.

Bring on Germany, Argentina, Spain/Netherlands/Brazil, Brazil?

Yeah, we got this. ENGLAND!

Re: World Soccer XV: Diver Down

Was Roo off on what should have been England's second goal? The first couple of replays it looked like he was but on the last one it almost looked like the right back was playing Roo on and that him and Roo were so square that the linesman on the near side couldn't see him behind Roo. It was weird that they never really showed the incident again.

Very happy England are through, I think that given the team's age finishing second is almost better because it gives them an extra day to rest. It will be interesting what the germans do, I don't think they fancy being in a quarter with both England and argentina.

Re: World Soccer XV: Diver Down

There's a pretty simple scenario where Germany doesn't even go through though remember. A Serbian win an a Ghana/Germany draw would do it.

Also I suppose I should eat the tiniest bit of crow on Bornstein. He wasn't awful. Not great, but not mistake a minute either.

You're gutted enough to respond to me with rolling eyes.

It's funny for you and tba to pretend England don't care about going second to the U.S. It's rubbish and you know it.

I generally root for England, though English fans make it tough to root for them at times.

Rooney was completely onside. Onside by a lot actually. Turns out the Slovenian keeper made a spectacular save just getting enough of it on his finger to put it onto the bar.

I could care less about finishing behind the USA. Should have finished behind on points if not for the Mali ref.

I care about finishing second meaning we could end up with: Germany, Argentina, Brazil/Netherlands/Spain/Portugal, Brazil to win it all. :)

But if we can go through that road, there will be no questions about England's strength. :)

Re: World Soccer XV: Diver Down

I'd love to hear the Univision call for the Lando goal. I can only imagine how long the GOOOAL call was. :D

Re: World Soccer XV: Diver Down

William Hill: If England failed to qualify bookmaker would have made $44.6M. If England wins it all, they will owe up to $75M

Not so fast. At some point your going to have to go through the stars and stripes again. :)

Oh I remember it as the English holding out by themselves against the onslaught of the Germans for over a year while the Americans sat by and watched and didn't enter the European theater until the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the declaration of war by Nazi Germany.

I guess we remember the game a tad differently. ;)
