World Soccer XIX- Full of Pomp-ey and Circumstance

Re: World Soccer XIX- Full of Pomp-ey and Circumstance

Today Liverpool has three quality shouts for a penalty, but does little else and doesn't get any of them called, and is knocked out of the Europa League by FC Braga.

Andy Carroll looks pretty impressive in the air, but got little to no service...Liverpool still has a glaring need for a winger who can cross the ball...

Man City is also knocked out, after Mario Balotelli is sent off for a straight red for a moronic challenge, Man City still carried the play and scored one goal, but needed two to make the tie continue into extra time.

Rangers were screwed as one of the most obvious handball penalties in recent memory (to the point where BBC which is insanely unbiased was going batty about it) but still needed one more goal to keep the match going so I'm not sure what the effect would have been in the end. What's the point of having the fifth official if he's just as blind as the other 4?

Re: World Soccer XIX- Full of Pomp-ey and Circumstance

Yeah, because ManU never has any calls go their way. Moron.

He's a ManU fan. Don't expect anything different. They'll get 99 calls in their favor, and the 100th goes against them and it's an anti-ManU conspiracy.

Yeah, as much as it pains me to admit it, that non-call was awful.

Re: World Soccer XIX- Full of Pomp-ey and Circumstance

Yeah there's a huge conspiracy against the English clubs, that's why ManU and Chelsea got two of the three best matchups in the round of 16.

Edit to add: As measured by current UEFA club coefficients.

Two of the English clubs to play each other and the third to play Real Madrid! Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Scary how close I was, since I think RM has been as brilliant in the CL as Barca so I guess they're relatively interchangable. :)

Re: World Soccer XIX- Full of Pomp-ey and Circumstance

It sets up to have Barcelona play Real in the semis though.

IT MUST BE AN ANTI-SPANISH CONSPIRACY TOO!!!!111!1

So sometimes the English clubs get an easy draw and sometimes they get a hard draw? It sounds almost... random? No, that couldn't be.

If Jon thinks Gers got screwed, the apocalypse is coming. EEK!

As much as you think I'm a moron, look at how Fearless Leader earned his oil fortune. If anyone sniffed too close, they ended up in an oil drum or led in a different direction thanks to a path of greased rubels. :D

Stuart Holden stretchered off after a Jonny Evans straight red card challenge. Hopefully his leg isn't broken again.

Re: World Soccer XIX- Full of Pomp-ey and Circumstance

ManUtd scores after the Bolton keeper spills it and Berbatov pounces on the rebound. 4 added minutes, but it looks like Bolton's woeful defending a MAN UP is going to hand ManUtd another title.

So I paid $40 for MLS MatchDay Live this season. Of course MLS rewards me for that by dropping the ball with the Vancouver-Toronto stream.

The MLS twitter feed say they are aware of the issue and working on it.

RBNY and DCU matches working and video quality is very good, so that's a plus. Still p!issed about Vancouver-Toronto though.

It's still a heck of a bargain at $40, something like that for any other league would $200+...

So, yeah Seattle sucks right now. :(

No kidding, comparing it to the NBA or NHL broadband packages, it's fantastic value (for an admittedly fewer number of games). Only if it actually works though. Otherwise it's a $40 internet chat program...

In happier news though, Charlie Davies got a brace tonight.
