Rooney's goal:

Now that's a wonderful goal. Nice to see some of the cynics here tip their hat to Rooney. We call that a GOALAZO!

Actually we call it a "golazo", since the language that uses "-azo" doesn't put an "a" in "gol".

Speaking of golazos, Ronaldo announced his retirement today. (The real Ronaldo, not the Portuguese knock-off.) As far as I'm concerned: when he was healthy, one of the best out-and-out strikers ever.

I cannot believe that penalty. He was tired, it was deep into injury time, and the penalty was horrible. I mean I understand the kudos to giving it to him since he earned it but sheesh. You have to let Davies or someone fresh take it.

If you're going to learn soccer terminology and act like you know something, how about getting the terminlogy right so you don't sound like a poser? ;)

I've seen it spelled both ways.

But in the words of the great Steve Martin.

Well EXUUUUUUUUUUSSSSE MEEEEEE!!!!

Scoreless at the San Siro so far. I would have taken that result at the beginning of the day, but Spurs have been bossing play...

Re: World Soccer XIX- Full of Pomp-ey and Circumstance

What a classless display in Milan. Flamini two foots Corluka, only sees yellow (red all day), Corluka is understandably down and the Milan crowd just rains whistles down as the players try to force Corluka off the field. Corluka needs a substitute.

Italian football is such a joke.

Re: World Soccer XIX- Full of Pomp-ey and Circumstance

Flamini has walked away from two red card worthy fouls with a single yellow. And Gennaro Gattuso is completely out of control on the field. Horrifying officiating in Milan.

CROUCH!!!!!! What a run by Lennon!!

Re: World Soccer XIX- Full of Pomp-ey and Circumstance

Thank God that goal was disallowed, both for offsides and a push.

Nice to see Gattuso headbutt a Spurs assistant and throw a punch after the game, too. He has no business being on a soccer pitch, frankly, ever again.

Hence, why I've always hated Italian and Spanish football. What a lot full of divers and complete jerks.

2-1 to the Arsenal over Barca. Should make for an interesting return match at the Nou Camp.

I loved how the coach -- who's not young! -- didn't even flinch when Gattuso headbutted him.

EDIT: Just checked. Coach is Joe Jordan. Fifty-nine years old. Scottish. Probably shouldn't mess with him.
