Serbia hits the post...

And Goff has the US starting lineup:

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/soccerinsider/2010/06/usa_lineup_for_world_cup_match.html

Goalkeeper: Tim Howard.

Defenders: Steve Cherundolo, Oguchi Onyewu, Jay DeMerit, Carlos Bocanegra.

Midfielders: Landon Donovan, Michael Bradley, Jose Torres, Clint Dempsey.

Forwards: Robbie Findley, Jozy Altidore.

Glad to see Torres in there. But why Findley again? His speed will be much less of an asset if Slovenia packs it in and they need another player that can finish and Findley just isn't that guy.

No complaints with that lineup. Give Findley 45 minutes, see if he can stretch the Slovenian defense, if not put on a finisher like Buddle or a poacher like Gomez. Pleased for Jose Torres, let's hope he puts in a performance.

So if TBA wanted to complain about the refs in the GER/SRB game I might even agree with him. :D

Now, how 'bout if Australia could beat Ghana, and then it could be a really interesting group. :D

Looking at Group D for the last round. 3 teams could end on 6 points, so it should be an interesting finish. Unless Australia is good for a tie vs Ghana or Serbia it looks like goal differential will decide the top 3 spots.

Germany getting 4 in their first match is a bigger boon to them now then they could have guessed.

Amazing looking at what Podolski almost did today. Fella was in some kind of funk, woke up on the wrong side of the bed or something. The failed penalty was brutal, and he must've missed the net a half dozen times. If he could hit the broad side of a barn today, Germany wins this thing easily.

Sheesh... the one time Germany trusts a Pole...

Also possible that Germany goes home with their +3 if they can't beat Ghana.

I also like the inclusion of Torres. It seems like Bradley is not simply going to sit back and wait for Slovenia to make the moves. He looked excellent against the Turks and hopefully he'll be able to provide the same possession and distribution.
