Re: World Soccer XIII: Through the Group Stages
What determines how many bids each "section" gets? Is there a formula?
Also, I was bored and looking back on where the World Cup has been played:
1986: Mexico (North America)
1990: Italy (Europe)
1994: USA (North America)
1998: France (Europe)
2002: South Korea/Japan (Asia)
2006: Germany (Europe)
2010: South Africa
2014: Brazil (South America)
Just a couple questions. Has Central America ever been considered? Or is that just viewed together with Mexico, US, etc.? What about Oceania...Australia?
Any leading candidates for 2018? Seems to me like it will be back in Europe.
My main motivation in seeing North Korea and Japan get thumped is that they [CAF, AFC, I can't keep them straight] might lose half a World Cup bid next time around. CONCACAF probably wouldn't get that half, but if South America did it would put "us" in a play-off with New Zealand, which you gotta like over the current South America.
