Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

Findley, Rogers, and Klejstan? Really? Come on Bradley. The only potential snub I see in there is Davies but it ultimately seems like he just didn't recover in time.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

If you don't see any snubs than who cares about those 3 being invited? They aren't going to make the final 23. I'm glad to see huddle and gomez are getting a look!

Sacha Klejstan's long running connection to Bradley has made his position "stickier" on the national team than his play warrants. I'm not a Bradley hater, but Chivas USA guys seem like they've gotten the benefit of the doubt or a longer rope than other players in the past.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

Buddle and Gomez are having great years, and their development make the Davies loss a little easier to take.

We have world class goaltending, we're pretty strong in the back, and Dempsey and Donovan are world class coming out of the mid field. Pretty good speed, good counter attack team. We're dangerous.

We don't really have any great holding mids, though and that could hurt us.

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

I just don't think those three even need to be in camp. All three have shown nothing playing for us in the past. I guess its not a huge deal, but one of them making the 23 would be a huge mistake imo.

Reading between the lines from Goff's piece, Bradley wanted to just announce 26 or so names (he doesn't have to announce 30, he just has to be under it. Hell, Brazil just cut to the chase and announced their 23 man roster), but the USSF folks wanted him to keep it at 30.

I can see why. It doesn't really matter, it gives some MLS fans a little something to talk about, and the experience of camp for the guys that will eventually get cut anyway can't hurt.

Wouldn't it also be prudent to have a few guys on hand to address the risk of injury taking one of the top 23 out of consideration?

Re: World Soccer XII: South Africa Awaits

All I want from the US in the world cup is for them to play up to their potential. I am tired of them laying an egg on the world stage.

They should be able to get out of the round robin, and depending who they draw they should be able to get out of the first knock-out phase.

I don't think they are good enough to get past a semi-final. Unless there were a bunch of upsets earlier.
