Sweet Jesus I hope Bradley doesn't see the Kljestan goal as a reason to put him on the plane. He looked horrible all night against freaking El Salvador.

Re: World Soccer XI: To South Africa, and Beyond!

Wayne bridge has declined to play for England due to the JT issue.

Out of curiosity, who's third choice after him and the injured Ashley Cole? Joleon Lescott away from his best position? Gareth Barry moved back from midfield? Stephen Warnock? Leighton Baines?

After Donovan embarrassed Cole (whose apparently gone Tiger Woods on his absurdly hot wife), I'll admit I'm salivating at the prospect of him lined up against either of those options. Its the one position on the field other than keeper where we'll have an advantage.

Shakhtar Donetsk 0-1 Fulham, HT (1-3 agg.)

Re: World Soccer XI: To South Africa, and Beyond!

MLS players plan to release a statement at 5pm EST.

It better be about them either reaching an agreement for a new CBA or agreeing to play this year under the old one. If they strike I'm going to be very upset.

Re: World Soccer XI: To South Africa, and Beyond!

Here's the statement in full:
The Major League Soccer Players Union (the “Union”) today announced that the collective bargaining agreement between the Union and Major League Soccer (“MLS”) will not be extended past the February 25 deadline previously set by the Union and MLS.

“Effective at midnight tonight, our collective bargaining agreement with MLS will expire,” said Union Executive Director Bob Foose.

Foose added that, “while we expect that negotiations with MLS will resume at some point, there simply hasn’t been enough progress made in the negotiations to date to warrant an extension of the old agreement. We have advised our players to keep working for the time being, but as of Friday they will be doing so without a CBA. In the meantime, all options are being considered as the process continues. We are completely committed to forging real changes to the way MLS players are treated.”

I saw some comments that it might be Warnock. Lots of speculation though

Pompey went to administration today. They will probably get 9 points taken off. Shouldn't Gaydamark get some sort of punishment for running up the bill and leaving? If I did that at a restaurant, I'd be washing some dishes.

Re: World Soccer XI: To South Africa, and Beyond!

Horrible tackle on Aaron Ramsey by a Stoke player. Shades of Eduardo last year. Early reports are a possible broken leg. :(

Re: World Soccer XI: To South Africa, and Beyond!

Arsenal gets a dubious penalty in the 90th for ball to hand, Fabregas scored, then Arsenal scores on a rebound to make it 3-1.

Hoping that Ramsey is OK. My fiance broke her leg in a horrifying manner so I get really sick around stuff like that. He seems like a good lad. Let's hope he can get back like Eduardo.
