I pick Bowdoin as the best team that will not be ranked this season :)

Not so fast, PB2! I see Bowdoin with 3 points in this week's USCHO poll. They have 6 NESCAC games left (2xAmherst, Trinity and Wesleyan and the finale with Williams and Midd) and if they went 4-2 (or better?) in those 6, I bet they make it to at least to #10 in the USCHO poll! Conversely, if they go 2-4, they probably do not get the #4 seed in the NESCAC playoffs. Time to start playing up to their potential, eh?

It was between Neumann and Bowdoin for the final spot on my ballot.

five of Neumann's six losses are to Elmira, RIT, Plattsburgh. I gave it to them for that reason.

Rankings are fine for what they are, but as for NESCAC seedings, why are you setting your sights on #4 when I think #3 is still a realistic possibility?

Bowdoin probably needs to go 4-2 (finish at 10-5-1) to be the #3 seed. That means beating Trinity on the road and beating either Amherst or Middlebury at home. I have no doubt the Polar Bears have the talent, I just have not seen them play to their potential so far this season. The Polar Bears take a lot of penalties (91) and both Amherst (4/58) and Midd (5/59) have outstanding penalty kills. I think Trinity may go 5-1 down the stretch and they would then finish 9-4-3. Should Conn College get hot and go 5-1, then they could finish 10-6, but at this point who knows. I am just saying I have not made reservations to be in Brunswick 2/26 for that NESCAC quarter final round.

not complaining FOR my team... but i was staring at the rankings today and was thinking that it was weird that RIT had more wins than RF has even played. i feel like if all the teams had an even amount of games, rankings would be a tad bit easier

Clearly RIT had a front loaded schedule and is playing far less frequently now than they did in November/December. However, as they say the only ranking that means anything is the one that the NCAA webcasts to announce the tournament field. If I were a UWRF fan I would be focused on winning the NCHA tournament and locking up the auto bid. In theory RIT doesn't have the same degree of concern as they would likely be a front runner for an at-large bid, however due to the probable 5-2 split UWRF unfortunately has the all or nothing problem to deal with. One could argue that a UWRF loss in the NCHA championship game could force the NCAA to go 4-3, but I wouldn't want to count on it.

If River Falls goes undefeated in the regular season and were to lose in the NCHA championship game and not get an At-Large bid, it would just show how much of a sham this whole process is.

The other contenders for the Pool C, assuming RIT wins out and current league leaders win their tourney's autobid would be

Elmira at least 7 losses
Plattsburgh at least 3 losses
Manhattanville at least 7 losses
Amherst at least 5 losses
Middlebury at least 4 losses
Even if Norwich doesn't win the east they would have at least 4...Norwich/Middlebury play yet so one of them will pick up another loss...plus they are at a disadvantage cuz 5 of their games don't really count.

I can't see Elmira or Mvill getting in with 7 losses, regardless to who they are.

Its extremely difficult to go through a regular season undefeated, regardless of what league you are in.
