Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

UMass's loss to Southern Maine would put them on the same level as RIT in your books?....I guess I'd have to disagree.

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

UNOFFICIAL OFFICIAL BERRY PATCH POLL:D

Using the average of combined averages of winning % of games against teams at .500 or better and overall season winning % the above .500 hundred team go like this without favorites :D

1. Platts .866
2. Trinity .793
3. Amherst .770
4. St Kates .714
5. Elmira .709
6. GAC .702
7. L. Forest .690
8. RIT .638
9. M'Ville .631
10 Midd .626
11 UWRF .619
12 UMass .576
Holy Cross .575
13 St Olaf ..547
14 Norwich .545
15 St Thomas .540
16 Adrian .530
17 UWSP .515
St Anselm .493
18 UWS .483
19 St Mary .482
20 Neumann .440
21 UWEC .418
22 Conc Mn .398
23 Hamilton .386
24 Salve .350
25 Williams .305
26 Bowdein .250

This is only somewhat helpful, what you or anyone who wishes to, should put the SOS #'s next to these %, as some of the schedules of some of these teams is on the weak side. For example, someone like St. Kates may only play 9 teams that have a .500% or better, while other teams like Amherst play 15 teams.

Yea lets pick on St. Kates. The MIAC is a very tough conference. Concordia and Bethel are not .500 teams like there record shows. I will like to see any team from the east play Bethel and see how that goes.

Concordia is 10-9-2 how is that not above .500 My guess is that Bethel would not do that well against many of the Eastern teams. Overall(there may be exceptions) Just an opinion but I think the NCHA is an even stronger conference

Am I bad my team and did not look at there overall record...as far as the NCHA being stronger, based on what?

GoJackets would be the man to ask but I think it would be based on interconference play over the years. It will take some digging to see for sure

If I counted correctly, in inter conference play this year the NCHA went
33W-25L-2T Just go through the MIAC teams schedules from previous years and see what you come up with. Pretty sure the NCHA will come out on top:D

The NCHA is 31-25-3 against the MIAC this year which is much better than in years past.

However if you look deeper into the numbers 10 of the MIAC wins were against Marian and Finlandia, 4 were by Gustavus. 10 of the NCHA wins were against Augsburg, St Bens.. so if we exclude those were at 21-15-3. I'd say the difference is that Marian and Finlandia beat MIAC teams where St Bens only beat Finlandia...and Augsburg beat no one.

The top teams in the MIAC vs th NCHA
GAC 4-1-1
UST 2-3-1
StK 3-1(win over CUW in OT, 2 over Finlandia)

Top NCHA teams vs MIAC
Lake Forest 4-0
River Falls 6-1-1
Adrian 0-0
UWSP 5-4

see my post...i'll double check later. This is much closer than years past, and I think can be attributed to the addition of Marian and the suckiness of Finlandia lately.

Say What? From the Cray archives of current year games:

Games between teams with winning records – NCHA leads 15-11-2
Games between teams with losing records – NCHA leads 5-2-1
Games where MIAC Team over 500 and NCHA under – MIAC leads 11-0-0
Games where NCHA Team over 500 and MIAC under – NCHA leads 13-1-0

NCHA holds an edge but some would argue not dominating, except for GJack.

Interesting note, MIAC teams have 7 open dates and NCHA teams have 9 open dates. Here is how the top teams faired in inter-league play when matched up against opponents with winning records and in total.

Lake Forest – 2-0-0, 4-0-0:)
River Falls – 4-1-1, 7-1-1:)
Adrian – no interleague play with MIAC
Stevens Point – 3-4-0, 5-4-0:(
Superior – 3-3-0, 6-3-0:mad:
St Kates – 0-1-0, 4-1-0:o
St Thomas – 2-4-1, 2-4-1:eek:
Gustavus – 4-1-1, 4-1-1:)
St Olaf – 2-3-0, 3-3-0:confused:

As far as looking back in time, that wouldn’t be relevant to the current year, unless of course you are going to play some of my east coast buddy’s games and say you didn’t beat us in the past, therefore we are better.:p

Thanks for the info..But are we not just talking about this year? The rankings really don't mean anything right now. I wish we played the east schools more but that cost $$$. So all we can do is look at schedules and results and go from there. That sometimes does nor give a a good picture either.

for MIAC and NCHA inter conference play the stats provided by Say What? and the super cray are for this year:cool:

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

I referenced previous years to show that the MIAC is closer to the NCHA in talent than in years past. As far as results on the ice show.

Interesting note, MIAC teams have 7 open dates and NCHA teams have 9 open dates.

I'm sure that played into Adrian having no games against the MIAC, Lake Forest had 3 out east, CUW had 2, Marian/Finlandia had a nonconference game.

Depending on how the schedule sets up, NCHA will probably have 7 open dates next year as well.

HDUBS if you look at nbounds poll from last week he does not have RIT ranked...RIT is borderline as they haven't beaten anyone good(but credit for playing them), UMASS had they beat Salve would probably been in consideration for top 10(slightly), I don't know ask him..haha
