Women's DI Rankings/Polls 2012-2013

Re: Women's DI Rankings/Polls 2012-2013

There's an interesting KRACH vs. Rutter scenario developing. KRACH clearly puts more weight into the WCHA's relatively lackluster performance against non-Lindenwood non-conference opponents.

Interesting...So you are saying Brooky's tag line "WCHA's 2012-13 Non-Conference Mark is 30-8-4 for .782 Winning Percentage" is somewhat inflated by LU games which account for 14 of those wins. Throw those out and the record is still good but not as dominating....16-8-4.

Exactly. Really, the WCHA only has one high quality non-conference win: North Dakota over Clarkson. UMD picked up a couple of ties against BU and there are a bunch of mid-level wins: Minnesota over SLU and UNH; Wisconsin over UNH; Bemidji splitting with Providence. And there are some real clunkers, like Bemdiji dropping three points to Maine and UMD finding a way to lose one to BC. So it really hasn't been a season to write home about for the conference as a whole.

Against BC half the UMD team had to be helped out onto the ice in their wheel chairs. The other half had to keep checking each other's ID's after every whistle to make sure their unfamiliar looking line mates were actually on the roster...BC was ranked #6 and UMD was very unranked. UMD won the first game 3-2 and lost the second game 3-2. Under those circumstances, you don't figure that the win was a "high quality non-conference win"?

But only point to their loss as a clunker?...(which I happen to agree with).

I wasn't overly impressed with UMD...but I cut them some slack for their circumstances.

I was even less impressed with BC as much as I like the team for some reason.

How does a #6 ranked team not convincingly sweep a very unranked team whose roster is in complete shambles?

They couldn't even practice because there weren't enough players!

Tells me something's wrong with the rankings. I feel the same way about BU...who were ranked #7 at the time and UMD wasn't even on the radar and all they could manage against the 'Dogs was two ties...not being able to score at all in the second game!

:D

You shouldn't be picking on TTT when he has Beanpots to worry about.

Okay seriously, I know it doesn't matter in the slightest... but how is BC not a unanimous #2?
Maybe there is a voter similar to you out there. E.g., is there a circumstance where you would vote BU #2 if there were more than two teams playing the sport?

Must be the BU voter :D

But you are right, does not matter in the slightest....Presuming they meet in the HE final, that final HTH match-up may very well determine the ranking order between the two.

If I were a voter I would have difficulty placing BU within the flustercuck of 3rd through 5th because those three are pretty even.

As I am not a voter, however, I would rank them 32nd due to the fact that they suck at life and goaltending and it's all their fault sieve sieve sieve etc and so on and so forth.

Re: Women's DI Rankings/Polls 2012-2013

I removed the D3/D2 teams from consideration because even though they would probably beat BU on most occasions, we have no way of actually finding out. :)

I suspect you are thinking about teams like Sacred Heart and Holy Cross with your reference to D2/D3 teams. They are not included in the list of 34.

Today there are 34 full fledged D1 teams in four leagues. 8 teams in HE, 12 teams in ECAC, 6 teams in CHA and 8 teams in WCHA adds up 34.

I used KRACH... maybe I took out teams I shouldn't have.

Rest assured, BU would rank last among all eligible teams due to their inability to play hockey or otherwise be good at anything whatsoever.

I don't think there's much debate about this.

I wouldn't worry about it. I hear the trophy for 'unanimous second place in the poll part way thru the season' looks a lot like the one for 'unanimous first place' - no engraving or nuthin'.....geesh, what's up with that.:D

Listen, BC being a unanimous #1 in the NCAA's Human Division is a big deal!
