Wjc 2024

Don’t get me wrong, the entire US defensive corp looks weak today.

but every game I’ve watched- is lane Hutson always this bad defensively? I know he’s supposed to be an offensive Jesus but it’s like he can’t play defense. Last year when the hobey hattrick was announced the BU fans had absolute meltdown he wasn’t there. It took all of a few shifts in the semi for the gophers offense to make him invisible.

Hes young but I guess I’m picking on him because all you hear is that he’s the best there is

All of the discussion before the tournament was that the US d-corps was small and mobile, but would have big question marks in terms of defending. Sounds like that was pretty spot on.

The Finns have realized the Swedish reds refuse to call high sticks to the face so they keep trying to rearrange teeth
They let so much go then called the weakest hook on Finland (or what was called a “Minnesota hook” back in the old WCHA)

I’d feel bad for them if wasn’t for all the high sticks earlier.

I think it was.

but I guess I’m used to some semblance of defense on the Uber talented offensive defensemen and not seeing it in this kid yet. But he’s like 19 and 160 pounds so it could change

hutson and Chelsey did play some good d last 230

Sweden losing it

Hutson had heck of a game and he just stood up to a 6-4 guy, good on him
Wasn’t he still cut from the high stick earlier too?

They talked about these two groups of players having played each other for medals the last few years. I looked and yeah, 2022 and 2023 U18 Gold Medal games plus the 2023 World Juniors Bronze Medal game. Definitely opportunity for bad blood to take hold.

My favorite part of any Reddit thread is the Europeans and Canadians complaining about “toxic Americans” while simultaneously posting stuff like this.

Give me a nickel for every school shooting or diabetes joke and I’d never have to work again.
