Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2025-2026

Did UMD challenge the tying goal for offsides? Because am 100% certain that they had called their timeout earlier, after an icing; I saw the ref signal timeout and put to the UMD bench when that happened. It's moot, of course, but that final 21 seconds after Harvey's goal should have been 5-on-3 (with McNaughton back in goal), instead of 5-on-4. I think the refs screwed that up.

I thought the same thing - but thought maybe they gave the TO back, or didn't charge them the TO when Wisconsin Challenged for the major? Doesn't make sense, but that's the only thing I can think of - because yes - I was pretty sure it was TO called by UMD too.

Unless the refs "initiated" the offsides review on their own. Assuming they can do that.

Apart from the final score, this was a dissatisfying outcome in terms of both officiating quality and the condition of players coming back from "practice" in Blaine. I wouldn't dampen anyone's Olympic ambitions but the way this is playing out is baloney.

They did challenge an offsides.

Booo

ix weeks would be "just in time for Ohio State". Wait a week longer, and you can give her all the way into January.
Most likely no need for that long, typically the MCL heals pretty quickly. All depends upon how much stability is in the knee since it's a grade 2 sprain. 4-6 weeks max is a pretty good time table. Really depends upon the knee responding to rehab.

My point is that if there is the slightest doubt, "missing two more games" buys you an additional month.

The PWHL website states that the league is taking an International Break for National Team training and competition, from Dec. 8-15. The league will then pause starting Jan. 29th. She won't have a month after the Ohio State weekend before playing again. If she is ready to go for Team USA on the 8th, she should be ready to go 3 days before that. I guess it depends on what her priority is. Play for Team Wisconsin and take the risk of re-injuring the knee, or sit out for Team USA.

Well, the Refs sure clamped down in game two, 11 called on UMD including a another 5 minute major with a 10 to boot. UW had 7 penalties. UW was 3 for 8 on the PP. UMS was 0-5 with 2 extended 5 on 3's. UW's pk was exemplary.

Greenie was very pleased with UW's adjustment from game 1 to game 2 in taking away the middle of the ice for UMD on the rush.

A bit surprising UW dominated the SOG in both games, 49 / 17 and 52 / 22.

I did not see goal 1 for UMD Saturday, I was on a pretzel run to beat the between period rush. What exactly happened there?

I have never witnessed in person the end of a game like Saturday. I'm still buzzing! And the Brew Crew beat traitor boy's team later that night. Epic day for my sporting interests.

It also peeves me that the ticket office never notified anyone that section 5 was not reserved anymore and the ushers at the stairs of sections 3 and 4 are doing nothing to direct non-reserved folks from going into the reserved area and getting booted out of their seats. This could not be handled more poorly.

Realized over the weekend that the tOSU series in February is during the Olympics. :(

I know I should have thought of it and checked the calendar. Either way... will be there.

Does tOSU have any Olympic players amongst all those poached transfers?

Having a hard time finding anything that lists who was at the tryout or whatever it was camp last week. I assume Casey O'Brien still getting snubbed?

Regarding the weekend series... watched both games and the gap between the supposed #4 team and UW is quite wide.

Game 1 shouldn't have been close and there were so many pucks just sitting there in the crease and in the slot just waiting to be pounced on.

That said, the UMD goalie is legit and that's a team you may not want to face in the Tourney in a one and done game. She could steal one for sure.

Absolutely loving #26... I think they were at times calling her "Shappy" on the radio for expediency - listened to period 1 of game 2 on the radio. She's reminds me superficially of Andrew Shaw... gritty... fearless... sandpaper and some legit skill.

Playing on the #1 line, the #1 PP unit and killing penalties. As a true freshman. And doing it all very well.

Dang...

Joy Dunne and Emma Peschel both missed their game on Friday, travelling back from National team camp, or whatever they're calling it. They also have four Europeans - three Swedish, one Finn - who might be on their Olympic teams.

-----------

Adding: they are currently dressing ten forwards, with the injury to Malachino keeping her out. If all the players I mentioned above indeed play for their Olympic teams, they would be down to seven forwards; eight if Malachino is back by then.

As is *always* the case, I'd rather be us than them. LOL

UW will most likely lose Shappy as well.

Thanks for this... I looked on the Goog machine and the USA Hockey site and other places.

Glad to see O'Brien at least getting a look. Maybe they don't like her two way game idk.

In watching Team USA though, there are times where I think we're lacking in offensive creativity and playmakers.

Wish one of those Rivalry Series games would come to the Kohl Center but realize it likely never will.
