Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2025-2026

This is an actual quote from the top story on the UW Badger women's hockey page: "UW first faces a ranked opponent during their second home series against No. 6 Maine on October 3 and 4. In the first half of the season, the Badgers will also see ranked conference opponents in No. 2 Ohio State and No. 13 St. Cloud State." It would be great if the person writing about women's hockey actually knew a bit more about women's hockey! I'm sure Coach Engstrom would be surprised to see that her Black Bears just jumped a bajillion spots to become number 6!

Probably written by AI - using data from years ago. Or just got way confused by "Minnesota-Duluth" and "Maine" - which is easy to understand because they both start with an M. /s

Great article by Dame Kallmann on JSOnlie about Mark Johnson and the "what if" calculator. I can't post a link at this moment.

The most relevant part for here is this:

"In his next job, Johnson may be in a position to affect people in a yet another way.

"He and wife Leslie launched a nonprofit organization and are building a therapy horse ranch for children struggling with mental-health challenges adjacent to their home in rural Verona. Agape Ranch should open yet this year and be fully operational by summer 2026.

"At what point does the longtime coach become a fulltime ranch hand?

"Said Johnson, “When I get done doing this.”"

(For some reason, when I googled it, the link I got was to the Appleton Post-Crescent)

Which means we have no clue when he's going ranch hand full time. Watts we DO know is we will never see Leslie playing the roll of journalist on a YouTube video interviewing her spouse about the outcome of a hockey game. :ROFLMAO:

I haven't been checking as often on how often Sierra has been checking in on the forum, but every time i have, it has been within the last couple days. I looked just now, and he was on the forum reading 15 minutes ago. 3:40 PM. So he's reading along, he's just not posting.

HockeyBuckeye, on the other hand, has not checked in since August 23rd. I hope he's OK.

I do enjoy fishing.

Yeah HB had some rough health issues a few years ago.

Doesn't feel like you will hear much from them this season unless they sweep UW in December.

Since when is practice an illustration of anything other than what is on MJ's ouija board in the current moment? :)

He does go a little mad scientist on occasion, but other times he runs the same lines out there for weeks and weeks and weeks. Who are the centers?!

I suspect that we won't get the lines until the first game, when the lines are posted! I'll be in Bemidji and let you know if he changes things around. Sometimes what's posted isn't the same as what is actually run in the game.

Do the Badger bus it to Bemidji?

Yes, at least historically they have. They even bus down to St. Louis (even when a national championship is on the line). They fly to Ohio State and to places beyond Columbus to the East.
That's a long haul. Maybe they get a sleeper bus and leave after practice tonight? I suppose the airport is an essential service airport and there isn't much flight activity.

If history is any teacher, they will leave tomorrow morning, arrive mid-afternoon, and have a skate-around practice before dinner. They'll have a regular practice today (Wednesday) at LaBahn.
