There's a ton to replace next season, 67G 124A, but If everyone who is returning scores the same amount of goals as this year, UW scores 154 goals and this year UM scored 153 and TWSNBN scored 155, so they'd be right there competing for the top 5 in the nation in scoring, which is a good place to be. That's how obscene the scoring was this last year. Just crazy. There's no reason to think they also can't maintain a top 5 team D rank as well.

I think Scannell is going to have a big year next year. She'll center one of the top 2 lines.

I believe you included Picard (8G) and Edens (24G) in the 67G total. Both have a year of eligibility left so the loss may not be as great as you think.

There was some nice stick handling at the very end but she didn’t have to do much to get to the net. Joy Dunne is a great player (I’m a big fan even as a Badger) but she’s not Connor McDavid.

There was too much of that type of laziness on D in both the Minnesota and OSU game and they’re fortunate it didn’t end up being the deciding factor.

Dunne is a great player, but that was easier than a pee wee at Skate with the Badgers.

Casey took a soft angle and let her go, Simms was flat footed at the blue line, Edwards just glided a few feet behind Dunne instead of catching her and lifting the stick and KK backed all the way into the net.

Great shot by Dunne... credit where due but the skate up the ice was all on UW.

At the 'celebration' at LaBahn tonight, Laila clearly brought this up without Lacey Eden knowing she was going to - "tell them what you did this afternoon" - but Lacey owned up to it, and said it's becoming a tradition. It's an instagram "story", so it's going to disappear mid-afternoon Tuesday. (I hope the link works!)

Right. Picard did graduate this year so who knows, and Eden may just want to go play in the pros. It would be great if they both came back but I'm doing worst case scenario thinking here.

You missed the point. If my team's player goes hard to the net it is a good play. If the opposing team's player goes hard to the net it is a dirty play trying to run the goalie. It's all from a fan's perspective.

I kindly don't agree with this. A good play is a good play regardless of who makes it and the same for a bad play. There is some grey area on penalties, but as a hockey fan I can appreciate the a fine play by an opposing player and tap my stick to them.

On the Dunne shorty, the UW skaters actions were horrifying, Ava was in a good spot but it just got jammed past her skate. Maybe she could have poke checked, but she could have never anticipated KK getting turned like that in such a small area. She was certainly thinking KK would at least engage her. Heck of a move at the goalmouth by Dunne.

What in the wild, wild world of sports are you blathering on about? The discussion was about Bucky’s lack of effort as Dunne came up the ice - if you can watch that rush and tell me that Joy Dunne suddenly became the next Connor McDavid then you’re delusional.

My unbiased opinion without looking back at the tape, the Badgers looked like pylons on that goal. It would be shocking, unless you remembered their start to the Wrigley game, and that this was early in a championship game where nerves would be present.

I wondered if KK wasn’t 100 percent after watching that, but she obviously settled in.

I don’t think Ava was super tested in this game. As long as she was positionally sound she was able to make enough plays. But that was one rare vulnerability that I don’t think was super exposed by the Buckeyes despite their best efforts. Just insofar as she is an underclassmen who’s had a ton of responsibility this year and was in new territory trying to get her first natty. Traffic in front and wire shots at the net and she could have gotten rattled. She will now carry the confidence of being an NCAA Champion and only get tougher to play against.

Dunne is similar to KK in that it could be your first time in your life watching hockey and you’d be able to tell that girl is GOOD.

Insane amount of goals scored by Americans in this Frozen Four. Makes you wonder what the future holds.

The last couple days, I had in my memory the image of Robert Ludwig signaling for a penalty shot at LaBahn, straddling the goal line after a puck had been covered in the crease (south end, by the Zamboni entrance). I knew it was relatively recent, and just now I got around to googling, to try to find it.

Feb 18, 2023. Overtime. 3-on-3. The opponent? Ohio State.

Jen Gardner covered the puck, two minutes gone in the OT. Amanda Thiele in goal for OSU.

Do I even need to say who took the shot?

Really similar approach, but at the end stayed with the backhand, instead of the last switch to forehand. 6-5 win for Wisconsin.

I wonder if either was thinking about that one on Sunday.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't we in line to lose A LOT more scoring next year with O'Brien, Harvey, Simms, Edwards, and Eden potentially on the National Team?

They are not centralizing and the thought is the WCHA will schedule around the Olympics in some way.

Your typical coach is a control freak. They want to control every facet of every game, gameday and practice, and even how they conduct themselves outside of the rink on a daily basis. When MJ said "who wants it?" he is giving up control of the most important play of the game. I've watched coaches huddle on the bench and make a shootout list, adding numbers, scratching numbers off the list. They'd never in a million years give that control up. Sure, MJ could hardly go wrong with any of maybe 8 choices, but to throw that out there was just another example of his brilliance as a coach.

I watched the celebration today, sadly I could not make it yesterday. O'B was very pleased to exact revenge on TWSNBN. I love it.

I can't remember a ton about many of the previous championship games and I watched all of them. This one will be remembered because of this moment.
