Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2024-2025

Now try to stay onsides Badgers.

That was nuts how they kept botching that up.

I feel like the D are not playing their best right now. Lots to clean up and the clock is ticking.

Ava is having perhaps the best year of a WI goalie evah? Leads the country in gaa and save %. She's on the cusp....ARD was .963 and .71. Ava is .951 and 1.13. She'll need a ton of so's to get there. Bummer she didn't get any this last weekend.

On at least a couple of the offsides, a St Thomas player would physically push the Badger straddling the blue line into being offsides as another Badger was skating the puck in. Smart play, I guess, as long as you don't get called for a penalty.

LOL. I'm not panicking, but they must stop allowing breakaways. That is my main concern. No easy opportunities allowed, make teams work for them.

I wonder how much of might be an 'intentional' trade-off. Yeah, they might give up a goal here and there, but they'll score more with their fast-break transition offense. Risk vs reward, etc.

I fear against better teams the rewards harder to get and the risk is higher.

While Timothy can be guilty of "the sky is falling" outlook at times, I think he has a good point this time. The last two finals have ended with a 1-0 score. I haven't watched the Badgers much this year, and when I have, it has been versus highly-ranked opponents (outside of BC). Still, I have seen some WTH moments that are atypical for UW teams. Johnson will likely have this cleaned up by March, but some of them, were more than just a case of someone being one step slow. The defender who should have been there wasn't even in the picture. If the offense is humming and you score 5, no worries; you'll win going away. If not, this team currently doesn't look like they are ready to win a championship by scoring one or two, so you may need at least 3.

UW missed on at least three of their backdoor plays, missing very open nets. Just one of those days.

Yeah they missed some golden opportunities. I also let them down because I didn't wear a red hat and a red jersey, I wore a white hat in a white jersey. I'll take the blame for the tie.

20 year-old freshman goalie from Finland for St Cloud today. I wonder if Raty is her 'personal' goalie coach; that is, which came first, the coach or the goalie. Or did they come as a package deal. Either way, she was pretty good. She has to be if she's taking playing time from Ahola.

I'm wondering about the legality of the ref helping the St. Cloud player to her bench after her skate blade broke off. Nice gesture but are there any rules regarding that situation?
