Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2024-2025

3 UW recruits are on the US U18 team....F Haley Boxer, F Maddie Kimbrel and D Emma Cerruti. They are 26/27's from what I can tell.

Who do you show for next year? On the Ice Rink commit list, I dug a little and found D Mackenzie Jones and D Rachel Gorbatenko, but I have no idea if that list is accurate. And neither is on the U18 team. https://www.eliteprospects.com/team/19433/univ.-of-wisconsin/2025-2026?tab=stats

I think there are two more Gorbatenkos right? Here's my list from sometime last year U18 independent: Charlotte Pieckenhagen (F), Rhyah Stewart (G), Adela Sapovalivova (F), Rachel Gorbatenko (D), Nicole Gorbatenko (F), Mackenzie Jones (D)

This is right.

Rachel Gorbatenko was on the 2024 U18 Team, and Rhyah Stewart and Charlotte Pieckenhagen were on Canada's U18 that year. And of course Sapovalivova is on the whole menu of Czechia National Teams.

Didn't get to see the game, but being outshot 33 22 is horrible.
Nope. You just shot at the broad side of a barn and missed. In fairness, not seeing the game put you at a considerable disadvantage.

The actual story: Shots were close for much of the game. OSU piled up some shots in 3rd Period after falling behind, while UW was protecting the lead. In the end, the shot differential was meaningless.

How much did the 4th line play?
Can't help you on that one; other than to say your 4th Line "wasn't the story."

You are one day early with this post.

4th line was enough to notice them through the mesh screen and bad camera tracking. One or the other of McCarthy or Scannell - I forget which - had a good chance on goal in transition at one point.

Over all, they were pretty sloppy with the puck; some of which no doubt was pressure from the Buckeyes. But we've seen much better from this Badger team, much crisper passing and puck handling. The second goal was an early Xmas present from Thiele; she went to cover a slowish moving puck across the crease, whiffed on it, and the puck came right to O'B. Easiest goal she's ever scored.

It's like MJ manifested the whole thing. After they were done with the "sugar on chili" part of the press conference this week, the first thing he said was - classic MJ - this will be an opportunity to learn about your team; what if you fall behind by two goals, what are gonna do about it, how will you react, etc.

Maybe prompted by this, but I noticed the 4th line out at least five or six times on Saturday (and not always in a positive way :-). Late second period I noticed Scannell out on a PK, and again at the end during 'empty net, extra attacker'. And she got the PP goal in the third.

The Badgers had a heck of a time with the Buckeye forecheck on Saturday. But the split maintains the overall lead in standings points/points lost, and a very difficult weekend is gone off the schedule. So that's a win, overall. The Buckeyes needed more than a straight-up split, and they didn't get that.

Ohio State had five goals during the weekend, and three of them were scored by "former" Badgers. That amuses me.

I am not very amused, but I get it. Web wanted to play grass hockey. Wheeler's departure is clouded. Maybe had OB left, Wheeler would have gotten O'B's spot/$$. I am happy The Fr F's are getting plenty of seasoning this season. There are big shoes to fill next year and one of them will need to do it.

A split was not unexpected. Hopefully I can can watch the games on the BTN+ archive this week.

This falling behind thing is getting old. And it's dangerous as happened Saturday.
